As you say davy boy of the pace for a spec c but as you know the track is very busy now and on every other lap of the day there was at least one slowdown or orange light still quicker than a 944
Was talking to Gary the pompy shirt looked a little tight

This is my report from the week.

I also caught loads of pictures of phil and Rob and definately one of you too Pete. Nip over to Northloop and I will sort them out for you.

Gary

Charley’s first visit

Tuesday 5th September

A 5am start for Emma, Charley and Gary for the mad rush to the tunnel to catch the 7.30am crossing. An easy crossing and journey saw them at the ring for 2.15pm. First up they nipped to Adenau to collect the 205. All felt well with the car and it was ready to rock and roll. On the drive to the apartment the car felt very wallowy, Gary put it down to being different to the last 7 hours in the Mundano. However on closer inspection it was found to have a virtually flat back tyre. A quick bit of aid by Marc at TTE and the 205 was ready to play again.
Up to the track for 5.15pm and Gary had the treat of a Quiet evening with some nice laps on a bone dry track. He met up with guys from ScoobyCity who were there in force with there jap crap
Gary, Emma and Charley joined the scoobycity guys and gals for a meal at the ‘Ring Haus’ before retiring very tired quite early.

Wednesday
8am start for the early laps considering the Scuderia free lapping was due to start at 10am. A quiet dry track lap with Dynamix following the 205 set the tone for the day.
The next lap was Gary taking Matt for a passenger lap. As they left the cones they saw a Red 205 waiting which proceeded to follow for the full lap. The driver was Pascal.

They had not met before but soon got to talking about all things 205. The spec on Pascal’s 205 was very nice indeed. Pascal took Gary out for a passenger lap with and he was very impressed with his 205 and Pascal’s driving skills
Gary, Matt and Dan went to take pictures at Quiddlebacher Hohe, then into the GP circuit to watch a Porsche driver training season. There were a couple of other bits of exotica on show also

Back at the track for more laps. The passenger seat in the 205 was rarely empty.
The thoughts that the Scuderia boys would be a nightmare were unfounded with the standard of driving being pretty good. Gary did however have to complain to the management about a gorgeous looking 1970’s Alfa he caught quickly in the bends but then slammed the door shut on him several times when he attempted to pass. Plonker

A Quick drink in the Ring Haus after the track closed where Gary chatted to one of the Scooby city crew who was an official photographer for Banzai, J tuner and mini world magazines to name a few. They also discussed the possibility of an article featuring Gary and the 205. Watch this space, you never know, people will read anything these days
Gary also met with Marc from Sportfoto.de and discussed photo’s of Northloop members for the future.
The group ate together again at the Pistenklause this time.

Thursday

At Karl’s suggestion, Gary, Emma and Charley drove to Burg Eltz near Cochem. The 45 minute walk up hill carrying Charley, was well worth while. The castle was very much in the fairytale category.

A pit stop at another castle on the way back to the apartment gave the guys the chance for a well earned glass of wine and chill out.

Back to the apartment then on to Pistenklause to visit Charley’s new best friend Fabrizio.

Friday

Gary was up early to change the brake pads on the 205.
That done the family went off to Altenahr on the way to see the Rhine. On the way they stopped to walk round a couple of the villages and sampled the local wine. It proved to be another stunning wine producing region, not unlike the Mosel valley.

A short ferry trip across the Rhine in the Mondeo and they stopped for lunch at Bad Honninger. This place felt like the old people swingers capital of Germany, a very odd place with drunk men and women wandering round in groups at 4 in the afternoon.

Up to Cologne Bonn airport to pick up Rob and Josh. The flight arrived late so there was time to use the internet café and catch up with goings on at Northloop.
Having collected them it was back to Pistenklause for Rob’s first steak on the stone of the weekend.

Saturday
A reasonably early start to nip to Adenau to collect Rob’s M3. Rob was extremely impressed with the condition of the full paint job the car had received. Andre then proceeded to spend an hour cleaning the car while the guys waited. Now that’s pride in your work

The guys spotted a couple of RS2000 hidden away in the garage but Arno could not be tempted to part with them both. The red one yes, but not the white one

Karl’s 944 still looked poorly sick

Everyone then crammed in to the mondeo for a drive to Cochem. The place never fails to impress B)
Lunch in a comedy snitzel bar. The cook reminding them of the chef from the muppets

6ft 4, 18 stone Rob ****ting himself on the chair lift while Gary and Josh took the **** was a nice moment

Back in the car for a drive to Daun to make a visit to the Roodelbahn. Gary fell off on his final corner of his first run, suffering the wraith of the controller at the bottom.
Rob was looking very quick until his last run, where he to fell off in pure comedy fashion.

Back to the track for 5.30 opening, the guys sat on the kerb for 15 minutes watching the queue of cars waiting to enter the track which stretched to the Ring |Haus in one direction and out of eye view in every other direction. It was not looking good.
There followed a few dry but busy laps. Loads of Northloop members were around including Steve Gill, Jochen, bad roo and omen 666,
The Pistenklause AGAIN, for a meal with Karl and family, Jochen, Sophia and Steve.
Fabrizio begging Gary for a framed picture of his 205 to put on his infamous wall. Something that will be resolved next month

Sunday

An 8am start for Gary, Rob & Josh were still unconscious in their bed.
The first lap of the day out with Steve following Gary’s 205 in the CSL. It was a nice quite lap until the biker they were following went too wide at Weirshaven, after hitting the kerb on the other side of the track he fell off, arms, legs and bike going everywhere and finishing in the middle of the road. Potentially an extremely dangerous situation as he was blind to vehicles coming round the bend. Gary and Steve making a split second decision to leave him where he lay and warn on coming vehicles. When this was under control the biker was already on his feet and trying to move his bike. A scary moment and luckily ending with nothing more than a bruised bike and ego for the rider.

Gary and Steve go straight back out to finish what they started. A good fun way to start the day with the CSL pushing the 205 round the track with ease.
Gary then took a passenger lap with Steve in the CSL. A nice, quick, safe, well driven lap

Gary repaid the favour taking Steve for a lap in the 205.

Lunch at the track side Imbis in Adenau followed by more photo taking.
T13 proving to be entertaining. The most impressive car being the beige R5 turbo, which performed a scandanvian flick, lifting one or two wheels on every lap. That guy can drive

Back to the track for more laps, with late afternoon the track started to get quiet down as per normal.
An Aerial Atom lapping with the guys from Top Gear magazine. A brief chat and perhaps some Northloop members pictures being published in the next couple of months. B)

A nice half lap following Damon in his CSL

A meal at the Chinese in Adenau and time to view the weeks photos.

Monday
9am start for the drive back for the tunnel. 2.30pm tunnel back to the UK and home for 4.15pm

A great week at the ring, with a mixture of complete day opening and complete closed days.
The Northloop membership is expanding all the time meeting new members on every trip. It’s a nice thing to be a part off

Costs are interesting I will be wearing my blinkers that weekend.

When you say 4 in a cabin, were you all in one car? Or can several cars share the same cabin?

Oh, and I must have a word with them about copying my idea on their sticker

Total miles from home and back was 1182 and I've still got fuel left!

31 gallons/143litres (still got 1/4 tank left) = £154

Total =£445

It might seem a little on the expensive side but I was paying for me and my son,so if you get a paying passenger it will be cheaper.

The experience priceless

The spec c is standard apart from powerstation remap and milteck exhaust
and some sticky dunlop sp sport super race tyres
one of the best thinges about it is the roof vent on hot weekends like the last one all of my passengers commented on it.

Expect it to cost £500 approx for a trip. The total previous didn't include non b&b food IIRC or soveniers (sp). Also account for wear and tear - pads, tyres, oil change and brake fluid. Don't forget break down insurance either and don't do more than 25KPH above the speed limit through France or Belgium or you'll be walking home (15 day insta ban).

Phil ........

so I need to find 15 seconds from somewhere to be quicker than you ...... but surely you have 350bhp (ish) and I only have 126

That will teach you to call me fat

I still have those pictures of you on track waiting, if you're interested.

Is this the famous 126 BHP before the chip, filter and zorst or after to make him feel worse Gary? But you are right, 8:30 is off the pace for a Spec C when Mark puts in 8:06's in his

F
PS don't time guys - it's not big or clever, especially when you have to pay for armco

8:31 is a well driven Spec C I'd say I managed an 8:38 after being held up by the yellow lambo through Pflanzgarten and the section that follows where he preceeded to get quite out of shape leaving his braking later and later in an attempt to fend me off

Yes I sometimes time my laps or should I say my dad does but as I said to davyboy the track is vary busy now and you have to back of for other users
if you like it or not, my best is 8.15 in my 95 wrx not sti and this was not a perfect lap so the spec c has some catching up to do
I look forword to the day when it,s mid morning not much traffic and no yellows
then 8.00 should be there for the taking until then we all will keep goin out
and watching out for each other weather on a bike or a car.
Over sat night and all day sunday I was passed by one car thats good enough
for me.
