Dinner Party Dilemma - special diet
#33
I'm not trying to stick up for the 'awkward' person in question, but why would anyone consume dairy products? Milk is only supposed to be consumed by suckling calves. Who thought it would be a good idea for humans to have it? When you intelligently think about it, it's madness. We just accept it's normal because it is so commonplace.

My Mum's been yeast free for donkeys years as she suffers from Candida
Try: http://www.candidadiet.com/recipes/redefault.shtml (Not all dairy free though but it might help with the yeast free bit)
I can't have cows milk but I can eat cheese & yougurt in small doses (Cow's milk is really high in lactose but cheese ans yougurt less so) just as well I love soya milk. If you get soya milk in for your friend, go for Alpro - it's really nice!
Until a 18 months ago I suffered from chronic IBS and tried all sorts of diets supposed to help it - the cure for me? Loosing 2 stone 2 lbs in 30 weeks
Good luck with the meal, I'm sure you'll come up with something fab!

Thanks for all the help guys - some really usefull weblinks for the future -here's what I've decided to go for:
Starters: A selection of canapes - home made parsnip crisps, parma ham wrapped around olives/ cherry toms, etc
Mains: Fillet Steak with potato wedges and nice veg (haven't decided yet!)
Pud: Half pineapple each - filling the hollow where the woody bit needs to come out with summer fruits and served with either a raspberry coulis or a sorbet (haven't decided yet!)
Needless to say that's as far as my good nature will go - wine will still be served with the meal!! (Though I will get some Appletiser or something nice for her)
Whaddya reckon?
