Terminator ... as someone else has said .. the same report could have been written about a UK spec car. Another has said that it was a good job you found out before the sale, and many others have said that JDM cars rock.

All are true.

Just ordered my JDM STi through Iain Litchfiled!

TX, i'd be interested to see the ads for the 2 JDM's you saw, coz I saw a couple on 2 well known selling sites, and I got bad vibes just from the ads themselves! One's advertised as an STI Spec D 2.5, and it's a JDM STI 2.0, and it's got a very wonky front number plate, how strange! Take a look on Autotrader.

I think the number 1 rule when buying an import that's been used in Japan before coming to the UK is to insist on FULL history, and the auction sheet, especially from a dealer......no auction sheet, no sale.

Angry

Not buying that JDM now, as it's not a 1 owner car, and was imported by a 3rd party. Very pi**ed off. Grrrr!

I'll have to keep looking and be patient, or just get another Type UK with 1 owner, low mileage and all history present and correct. :-(

What dealer had the car you got a report on?

I famously posted up a report on a 22b from a certain garage in Chester after they didn't want to give me my deposit back after the devestating report on the car.

They still kept 250 of my deposit, but I sullied their name enough so the car still wasn't sold ages after I left it. Their mean decision must have cost them thousands in bad publicity and lost sales.

Unhappy

Won't reveal the Dealer as it's unfair. I'd have been happier to have been pre-warned about the repairs as I'd have said thanks but no thanks & saved myself a few shillings in the process! I hadn't left a deposit so didn't lose anything there (lost money was for the Report).

I have a MY04 JDM STi

imported by Car Planet at Warrington. I bought it off donutman on here. I have had her since Feb and love every minute of her. drives superbly and as stated before the power delivey is so smooth

Mine has been remapped by Richard Bulmer for UK fuel and is running 350bhp and 370 ft/lb of torque. and now sports the full type 25 handling kit

I love my car to bits. lots more toys than a uk car and a stronger bottom end!!

So I bought mine second hand and it has had a full RAC inspection on it that reveiled no nasty suprises.

I have had 2 problems with the car firstly the rear shocks started knocking!! they had been replaced by a UK dealer but thay did not want to know because it had changed hands!! even though they where only 9 months old. AST's fitted now so no problems there now

The second problem was the driveshaft nut came loose!! which took out the wheel bearing and drive flange, just unlucky there!! eventually sorted out they are exactly the same as the UK cars

Get a JDM you will only be dissapointed if you dont!!

I came across this post via this link:
https://www.scoobynet.com/anywhere-c...t-t529334.html

I went to see the same one Terminator did, and I am ****ing pissed off. I travelled a fair way early this week to see the car and luckily I do know my stuff, and can verify all that was commented earlier. (didnt spot the rear door though)

I have contancted the ScoobyNet admin as I feel this should be brought to light.

I'm actively searching out a JDM STi. I've seen 2 so far that I've liked. One was an 03 plate the other a 53 plate. Got a mechanical check on each by the AA who have advised that both have been involved in serious accidents at some point & are basically worthless! One appeared to have been rolled at some point! If I'd have bought one on face value (owners both advised all was ship shape) then I'd be crying into my beer at some point in the near future ...

It's put me right off. What can the JDM owners say to make me feel better about JDM's as I'm close to turning my back on them.

TX.
Good job you didn't turn your back on the jdm's hey, being the proud owner of a spec c

Bit of a shame if this is the case with the car in question. They've always been very sound when I've had dealings with them. But console yourself, it could have been worse. You counld have shelled out on a report and the garage kept your 500 quid deposit after you declined the wreck of a car. That'll be Graham Walkers in Chester.

Although it points out it is a 3 lettered company and not Litcho's for those of us a little confused..

It's possible it might prompt someon from the company to pop along and comment. It seems it's not just one person who has found this car isn't as it's been advertised, and looks like a couple of others may have been saved time and money by not going to see the car.

There is of course the fact that SN does not allow name and shaming at all, and I'd expect this would be acted upon even more quickly than normal if the company in question happed to advertise on SN.
