Did you add all the artwork yourself? First time I added a pic - a 1 mb file, it will add that file to each track, so a 12 track album will just have an extra 12mb added to the size.

I use google images - find a decent piccie then edit it in photoshop down to 280x280 - most pics will now come in under 20k so a bit more HDD & iPod friendly. Admittedly it's not a perfect solution, and the new add artwork feature isnt fantastic as not all the images are good quality - but at least it better than putting up with lazy bar stewards @ gracenote who can't be ar5ed putting the correct years to each track...

In each folder I have folder.jpg and cover.jpg, which I have re-sized to 200x200 using a free utility called photoresize.exe

I then use Tag & Rename to replace the embedded cover art with the re-sized ones. I do this as I rip/download albums and have done so since I started ripping mp3 3 years ago.

iTunes doesn't appear to just read the embedded artwork as it copied 215Mb of art onto my local PC. It's already in the ID3v2 tag for every MP3 file as well as having it as the folder JPEG, so God only knows why it need to get some more.

I have the thick end of 30,000 tracks so even adding a few Kb again adds up to more disk space.
