I know the bloke is seriously ill and it's really inappropriate but that hamster dragster is very funny.
I could see JC presenting him with one of those.

JC told the Sun newspaper his colleague had got to his feet and walked "shakily" to the toilet during the early hours of Friday.

And fellow Top Gear presenter James May said on Friday he believed the injured presenter was "perfectly intact" after the pair had had a conversation at his hospital bedside.

"I'm not a doctor but I am his mate and I believe that deep inside the Hammond I know is perfectly intact," he said.
Richard's wife has commented very positively as well on his health improvement. Well done, Richard!

IMHO trying for the land speed record is more than a stunt.

OK shelve the ditch a caravan stuff, not that it was even dangerous, but might shup up the whingers.

I can just imagine JC saying to Hammond "We're trying for the water speed record next, Hammy - can you swim?"

I hope I can make a light joke now that we think he is on the mend? dl

Just been said on Sky news that the next two weeks are crucial for him, even when he is on the mend. His health will be closely monitored. Doctors are worried about the pressure and internal bleeding in his brain, which may suddenly occur. He may go poorly again within half hour! Keeping my fingers crossed for you, Richard.

The BBC have indefinately postponed the 'Best of Top Gear' due for broadcast a a week tomorrow and will not confirm the next sereis of Top Gear in the schedule.

This would be like cancelling F1 after Senna died. Or stopping WRC on TV after Michael Park died.

Let's make sure the Beeb hears our voice and let's hope that the final decision lies with Richard and his family.

Wayhay! He is getting much better!

Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond has continued his remarkable recovery from a 300mph jet car crash and was well enough to share a joke with his wife Mindy.

The TV star said he was so overwhelmed with flowers he was worried he could be in for some ribbing from fellow presenters Jeremy Clarkson and James May.

Medical staff at Leeds General Infirmary said Hammond has made such good progress from his injuries that he has now been moved from a high dependency unit on to a general medical ward and is in a stable condition.

He hasn't lost his sense of humour even in such circumstance. He even joked with Jeremy when he saw his first after the accident. Jeremy told him that he had had a car accident. Richard said " Was I drinving like a t!t?"

when he saw James May, he said "Hello, c**kface!"

"Although next few days are crucial but he is making good recovery" Doctors said.

LOL.

Brilliant news

Read Clarkson's column in The Sun.

The appeal is now up to £75K, with a new target of £100K

As above, thanks for that. Was hoping to get a read. That is Clarkson at his best, what a brilliant peice of journalism

I think that as long as Richard recovers well, Top Gear will only get stronger. The three presenters already seemed to have a close bond, imagine it after this.

I know the HSE are only doing thieir job by investigating - but it seems like this was just a terrible accident. The sooner people in the UK remember that accidents DO happen - and it's not always possible to blame someone - the quicker the Claims Direct culture can **** off back over the pond where it belongs.

If people didn't take (calculated) risks we'd all still be living in a cave, trying to beat our dinner to death with a bit of tree. At least there wouldn't be any veggies or environmentalists I suppose.........

Indeed. May I refer back to my post earlier today.

At least Clarkson knows where I'm coming from I do wonder about some of the posters on here sometimes...

Whatever

So, do you agree that 'they' are going to try to get Top Gear banned from the airwaves as both I and JC believe?

As an aside have you checked the donations out lately to the Air Ambulance?

Does anybody know if what shows up as "donated" is pledged, or is cleared funds

Some bloke called David Curtis (the painter?) has just put down 50k, is that real though??

I don't think that *they* are so powerful and I think Top Gear will remain with us

Decisions are made slowly and however tragic the recent events are, it will be a 9 day wonder. The masses like TG and there's too much cash to be lost by axe-ing it. <there isn't an appropriate smile for here>

Can't answer your question but tragedy always brings out the folk who want to give to a worthy cause Can't fault them and thank god they exist. Our world is a strange place and .......whatever floats your boat has got to be acceptable

Know what you mean. I've given as much as I could to my old local Air Ambulance over the years, mainly because I lived in the middle of nowhere and thought I may need it one day

My Godmother (who is very religious) used to wonder why (give all your money to the church and all that....).

That was until she fell over walking along a cliff and broke her ankle. Guess who turns up to airlift her away? God? No, the Air Ambulance

Guess where a large proportion of her donations now goes

Should still be government funded though, bloody disgrace

You under estimate the New **** PC Labour Police then IMO

It's a good job Clarkson is on the case. He understands - probs better than anybody else, the threat to our culture from the New Labour ninnying nannying facists.
