good comes from tragedy.. in this case hopefully , there wont be a tragic ending.. its still a tad early to say the Hamster is 'out of the woods'... fingers crossed he is,.. but the general public has their say , and are doing so in their droves.. so many are signing petitions and sending wishes, and also donating to the hospital and/or the Air Ambulance.. the only 'tragic' thing really is the fact that they have to rely on PUBLIC donations rather than funded by the government

That was until she fell over walking along a cliff and broke her ankle. Guess who turns up to airlift her away? God? No, the Air Ambulance

Guess where a large proportion of her donations now goes

Should still be government funded though, bloody disgrace
I have similar feelings about the Lifeboats

That's where my money goes

Born and bred by the sea....and it's tragedies

You can almost hear the chants:

"save the hamsters... ban all motor sport..."

Things will change, hectic. Everything takes time though and should never be a knee jerk reaction.

with age comes patience.... this I've learned.. (gosh how adult do I sound there ) the government WONT step in, whilst they can shy away and leave it to the goodwill of the public, its been the same for years with the lifeboats..its going to take more than a hamster in a jet car to set the government into 'pay-out' mode

Hamster (spelling Jeremy) Will indeed be gutted when the decision is taken. Sadly, it will be 'out of his hands' because, as will be said - he 'dropped the ball'

I think that the weight of public opinion and love for TG will be too much for the BBC to ignore and way in excess of any influence the TG haters will have. The public love TG and I wont be surprised to see the already good viewing figures get better, ladies especially love a bit of a human interest story, especially when it relates to the cuddly non threatenting and cute Hamster bloke.

If they do axe Top gear I will lose 50% of my weekly tv schedule, 100% when the Sopranos season ends.

Will confess to watching X factor but only in the mutant phase, its like a modern take on the Victorian freak show.

If Topgear is axed, Clarkson, Hammond and May will move to another channel (most likely Sky) and make the same programme.

Default Isn't it hypocritical!

We as a country, applaud Richard Noble and Andy Green for showing the rest of the world that Britain still leads the way with land speed, high achievers and ground breaking technology, with not a peep of dissent from the closet nannies and do-gooders. However, had that land speed record attempt ended in tragedy the do-gooders would have trampled the masses to death in the haste to have their doom mongering heard; This senseless waste of life; This dangerous lust for speed; Setting a dangerous example, etc, etc, etc. The do-gooders only have a pedestal from which to speak because we give them one, they are an infinitesimal minority yet they end up with a disproportionate voice because governing bodies feel they have to take them seriously. We need to push the boundaries in everything we do (as was Richard) or the saying “All that is great about Britain” will not exist (only “All that was great about Britain” will remain). Top Gear should be applauded as ground breaking television which has pushed the boundaries of motor journalism, it’s a wholly British product which is known and respected across the world (with worldwide audience figures in excess of a BILLION there is a huge following). I was led to believe we live in a democracy, yet if a small minority (even if they total a million they have a voice of well below 1% of the Top Gear masses) can ride roughshod over the views of up to a billion people, then maybe we don’t.
Where do I sign the petition to keep Top Gear?

Spot on. Dutch tv rightly calls TG the world's best car programme
News of Hammond's crash even made news headlines here and colleagues were even concerned enough to discuss it in the office. If the do-gooders don't like it then they shouldn't bloody watch it!!

Its a shame that there are only 9494 votes on that petition and although its debatable as to it's efficacy I'd hoped to see more signatures in support of Top Gear.

Well said Pedro.......

There is a good argument to say that projects such as a record attempts are going to be much safer on a Beeb programme which can afford full safety back up than on a budget stretched effort on some salt flat. Plus if it is succesful then Britain gets huge publicity.

It's probably true to say that Hammy is alive and seems to be kicking because of the fantastic back up that was there. I suppose there could be a question as to whether he was the most suitable driver but I don't know what special skills are needed, aside from being half mad dl

2 FANTASTIC articles by JC himself.

Have signed the petition and couldn't agree more with JC in his articles.

However, 'if' it does go to Sky, dunno if I could persuade the Mrs that we can warrant getting Sky just for Top Gear !!!

COME ON everyone, get this petition signed !!!

The petition, at this point, is a bit pointless anyway. Once the bbeb say they're intending to scrap the prog then the people signing the petition will rocket.

Hard to convince people to sign for something that probably won't happen anyway.
