Nice Guy and funny. Hope he gets well soon, If he was walking and talking when the services got there then things look brighter already. Get well Richard.

Very sorry to hear this. Great guy, mild mannered yet extremely witty.

Am hoping Richard Hammond will be A-ok.

As you may have seen on the BBC news ; " Richard Hammond was taken to hospital unconscious by Air Ambulance" and "he was clearly suffering serious head injuries". Also the hospital concerned had a neurological centre.

Doesn't sound too good, the news24 bbc reporter keeps banging on about the fact he was airlifted to a specialist teaching neuro hospital in Leeds as opposed to several closer standard a&e hospitals.

His wife is travelling to Leeds, I hope he makes a full recovery and is on our screens real soon............

WTF went wrong ? I know he was going at 280 mph but tbh wtf is a tv presenter being allowed to tackle things at that kind of level ?

News just said he already broke the land speed record and was doing a few final runs just for the top gear cams. This was done at Elvington.

Apparently he was slowing down and released the parachute, as the parachute opened it pulled the car off the track and flipped the car over.

The car is open topped and it took firemen over 10 min to cut him free.

Unconcious on arrival but apparently regained conciousness as he was put into the air ambulance.

Really shocked

Our thoughts are with his family, hope he pulls through and is back fighting fit very soon.

He comes across as a top bloke and has an excellent sense of humour - he must have all the crap he takes off Clarkson!

Things like this always put into perspective how important family and loved ones are and that whilst we may perceive him as a great TV presenter he is more importantly a son, husband and father to those nearest and dearest to him.
