Paul,

Tiff - Demoted from presenting it seems. Driving as spectacular as ever, but where's the info on how the car handles on the road????
Vicki - Cringeworthy trying to get the "yoof" vote and admiting to inappropriate antics behind the wheel on the way to the shops. Please grow up Vicki- you're not an 18 year old chav; stop acting like it. Posh, totty with the naughty laugh suited you much better!
New bloke 1- 5th gears answer to Tim Westood! **** poor interviewer and presenter!
New bloke 2- Seems plesant enough, but sooo chosen to try and get the yoof vote, again!
Bloke that always does the "technology bit"- effecient, but the material i.e. the most interesting part of the show carried him
RC vs Mini- Who cares and they were rude about the british world champ!
Tom Ford- Given a completely crap segment -as usual- but he comes across on air as a nice bloke who's prepared to muck in and who genuinely likes cars. Wasted on that show!

It was bad and usually I'll like anything with a few tasty cars in it!!

Well I thought I would give it the full hour before I made a judgement. What a load of complete rubbish!

13 weeks worth of tat, certainly won't be getting my viewing.

Who the hell was that blonde twonk? And I don't mean VBH! Taking the **** out of R/C cars shows total ignorance - takes more skill than he could ever muster!
The programme was a poor start to the series. The only thing worth seeing was the EVO and the Extra 300.
I did enter the win a Mini comp. though, and I bet most of you lot did as well?

Entered the comp, that mini looks the nuts.
As for the actual programme, it used to be tollerable, now with the loss of Plato and Tim "I like cars I do" Lovejoy and the move to the ACE cafe environment and even sh1tter ideas I don't think I'll bother watching it again.

Although I do wonder what they've done with that cardboard cutout of VBH in that white mini skirt...

That sounds worse than ever I didn't bother watching the last series at all but I used to watch the odd show when I was bored.

I don't think I'll be bored enough to bother watching it again

Thanks

What a pile of crap, really disappointing

I used to watch it cos it tended to fill the gap when Top Gear was off air but the new format really is ****e, I reckon I'll record it next week at least that way if it's as bad I can fast forward through and maybe pick out a good bit somewhere - MAYBE!!!

We were ready to turn over by the first break and later on it was comical to hear VBH say "no flicking now" as the end of part rolled (or maybe she was talking about something else ).

We learned nothing about the mini GP or the Evo IX except they are / are not faster than 2 things you will never see on the roads. The "banter" in the Ace cafe was diabolical, the new presenters are dull and tiff needell had less than 5 minutes of air!

I assume that by now the shows have ben recorded? If the format stays I won't be going anywhere near it.

The only really good thing abouot 5th Gear is that they give cars away.

I wouldn't mind having that Mini GP.

Got a feeling I'd sell the Mini (as much as I like it!) and my STi (as much as I love it!) and get the EVO FQ360

I literally watched 5 mins. That five mins was enough for me to realise that I'd rather be watching the Trevor McDonald programme (the one he might as well not be in).

As soon as that new bloke opened his mouth, I was off. It made Rogue Traders look like Gold standard entertainment. I even loved the 'fancyman' quip, very funny.

Judging by the above reviews, that's exactly what will happen and the show will be axed. Happy days

Why happy days? I enjoy it! you carry on watching something else or shock horror do something that doesn't involve watching a screen. I think Eastenders/Corrie/etc etc are crap I don't dare to tel other people to stop watching it I just get on with my life

I've just sent an e-mail to Channel Five pointing them to this thread. I just hope they have a look and take note of people comments. It was awful.

Happy days 'cause they might put something on instead that's watchable instead of it's current form where it is IMHO a total pile of steaming ****e. I have already said I switched off and watched something else, as have the majority of people on this thread. In fact, you seem to be the only person who enjoyed watching it

And you seem to be implying that 'I dared' to tell people what to watch, please point out where I have said this

Agree with all of the above - and I've just e-mailed them this:

As a dedicated fan of 5th Gear since the first series - I felt compelled to write in and complain as I'm stunned that you've managed to destroy an excellent programme!

The loss of Jason Plato is far more significant than I could possibly have envisaged! Tim Lovejoy is an inarticulate chav and made all his lines appear monotone and rigid - which then accentuated the poor scripting. I can only assume you are trying to appeal to the "youth" market at the expense of anyone who has half a braincell.

Why has Tiff been demoted from presenting to just road testing?

Vicky and Tom were as delightful as ever, but the guy who was advising on the "chip fat merc" was so wooden I assumed he was a guest!

The "wreck my ride" feature smacks of desperation to emulate Top Gear and manages to be both unimaginative and completely pointless.

The various automotive bulletin boards are already suggesting hundreds won't bother to watch it again - so make some changes before that becomes hundreds of thousands!

Nerr, not a car program IMO, didn't tell me anything. Not a single comment about the Evo IX FQ-360. Poor. Very poor. Racing a radio-controlled car, then scripted running it over.

Thumbs down What's with the camerawork

Maximum of 2 seconds shot of anything. Far too close to give an impression of speed. Deliberate (?) shaky handheld camerawork

I could never tell where the rc car was compared to the Mini because the shot was too close to show both simultaneously. They may think the shaky blurry shots are artistic, to me it is just distracting. Perhaps they need to invest in a tripod

Or is it just my age ?
