I'm all for one for protecting what's mine, but I don't want a knife pushed against my throat, or worse. I have a shotgun, and would deffo use it against someone breaking into my property, as burgulars are more frequently using violence (as they know they can get away with it) so defending myself with a Shotgun is fine as far as I'm conserned. The law stopped as soon as you stepped in my property.
However, having a Shotgun is one thing, waking up in time to get it out of the cabinet and loading it is another. Being asleep when 1-4 tooled up blokes decide to beat you to a plup or worse just for a car is something I don't want to experience.
Keep your car keys downstairs, just not in plain view of any windows.

Fine if you want to be killed for the sake of a piece of metal thats worthless in reality.
I talk from experience of people I know that have been burgked for their car, the thieves didn't run off at the first sign of noise/lights/neighbours.

this is starting too take the pi@s the scum just nicking cars they want if this was america we could defend are property with a nice 9mm pistol or shotgun somethig has to be done about this car crime.instead of the police just stopping motorists for trival matters they should be doing more to get this scum <bring back hanging>

Why not go a step further and leave the keys in the ignition and the doors open FFS.
