and see how versatile the demo of the technics is
it can do ANYTHING a 1210 can do and so much much more
i can scratch and you can do a crab , flare , chirp, even an orbit

but then if you actually have two technics zr1200s then youd know you can scratch with them
indeed they are standard kit now for the dmc world championships

Lets not get into facts, we could have the ball rolling all afternoon

My personal preference is Vinyl, I started on it & I will finish on it (15 years ago)

Granted CD's are good, but I'm an Old Skool DJ - DJ'ing was derrived from Vinyl & I have nothing against CD's, just prefer vinyl

Vinyl mixing (IMO) is more technical

Yes, I actually have two - however as stated earlier, my favourite genre of music is House Classics, I have over 10,000 records (vinyl) in total of this genre, which IMO sound better mixed from vinyl & not CD (Plus i am a lazy **** & cant be arsed putting them on CD)

so if we take your claim of mixing for 15 yrs
which id say makes you a dj baby of 11 when you started
you would have had to have bought 50 records a week , every month for 15 yrs (and kept them all)
ive djd for 20 yrs plus , owned a record shop and havent got 25,000 records
you sir are a liar
in fact ill gladly come and see your record collection and if you indeed have 25000 records ill give you 50 quid
if you dont give me 50 quid

I am almost 28, I started at the age of 12

The reason I have so many records is because I buy collections , keep what i want then sell them on. I play a large spectrum of music, House, Hardhouse, Trance, Classics

Make your own assumptions - I could call you out on this, but whats the point, neither of us have anything to prove - so it would be a pointless excercise

25,000 Is an estimate - but i bet its not far off

reminds me of when eddie played at promise vs goodgreef and they used "fosters" decks and mixer for the main room (resident for promise at the time, he was going out with my birds best mate)

and he got the hump bigstyle because eddie cained his mixer to **** and trashed it

every serious dj is moving to cd decks now
with vinyl you cant loop tracks, timestrtch, tripple track with ease etc

If you go to a club no, look what there playing on, nuff said

In the last year when ive been out, ive seen 2-3 DJs using vinyl and even then they've only played a few tracks on the old plastic!

CD is the future. I turn up to a club with a lttle CD case with all the tracks having CD text on them and my mem stick with all my cue points saved

Feel sorry for people still buying vinyl. COme on £4+ for 1-2 tracks.

You can DL tracks of the internet for 50p or £1 at 320kbps .mp3

Feel the force. CD is the future!

I still do take a few 12" to a club just to be a crowd pleaser, everyone likes a DJ to do cocktail flanging with the record or is it just me?

EXSCOOBY what is tripple tracking? Is it like a drum from 1, a vocal from another then like scratchin from another?

I can just about beat juggle a few tracks

triple tracking is endlessly looping a section of a track using 2 or 3 turntables and a mixer
you play a section then have an identical copy of the record on the other deck , you kill the fader on the track youve just played and replay the record on the other deck whilst winding the 1st record back to the same start point
repeat a few times
with the new cds decks this is done instantly and can be preprogrammed to do with delayed intervals and samples etc
this is best done with a breakdown in the track or in a drumroll section

Oh yeah I can do that, I just press the loop button twice

Like on special D - come with me

When it goes "turn it up"

I change it to "turn it up up up up up" whilst changing the key to get the crowd bouncing more and so it goes well with the next track!

Also do it the otherway, by looping and when the next track comes to its break down a use the key change to lower the key.

A move I have pioneered and called The Slo-Mo Porno. Makes it sound like a porno movie slowed down on vocals!

Like what the do on the technics DVDs but far easier on CD decks

I am a bedroom (internet radio) and "mobile disco" DJ I know a couple on here enjoy my mixes tho hehe

Getting me some CDJ1000s after xmas so I can practice, then i'd like to find a way into bar/club DJing, as at the minute I am using the Pro version of VDJ4 and an external mixer/controller.

Currenty most happy playing NRG/scousehouse but love funky house too

Tend to download my tunes from a couple of the online houses my fave being 3beatdigital.

Criss do u scratch on the CDJs? If so do you do it exclusively with the wheels or do pitch/cue scratching?

Yeah I scratch on them, I preffer CDxs to scratch on or my axis 9s.

I like to use the auto cue to assist me somtimes but, once you've leart it, you'll never forget!

Taken me about 4months to master the crab scratch, and boy does it tire your finges in the first month!

I like to use the pitch and cue to do some impressive stabs and stuff with out key lock on, sounds great on the right tracks!

Im selling my axis 9s with a mixer if you or know anyone who wants them?! looking for about £300 ono for them!

Sort of thing I aim to achieve = Rob Cain's (big in scouse) scratching over Sweet Dreams here:

Love Rob Cain, He's gone abit downhill since he first appeared on the scence though!

Scouse House Vol 1 was the best scratch CD ive heard ever! No.2 was crap cos it had MCs and some OTT scratching.

Try hardcore or R&B for learning to scratch, I learnt by having a westwood CD on one deck and the numark samples CD with the main samples like Ahh Yeah and Break.

Have a look at DJ Keltechs vid section Here

He is awesome! He's one of my idols

Feckin hell exscooby, give it a rest - this was a good thread till you started chipping in and slagging all and sundry off. Most of us left the junior school playground over 20 years ago

Here's a tip for you, people have differing opinions and you'd do well to respect those opinions and learn that we're all different.
