Location location location.........

Any 'mapper' who know's what they are doing will achieve pretty much the same result, the engine and the modifications that are fitted/engineered are the limitation, not the software or their magic keyboard.
If I were in the position of looking for someone to map my car and I didn't have the experience or expertise to carry it out myself I'd look for someone who's local so I don't have to travel far if I have any future issues, I'd also want someone who has experience of the particular model in question.

For reference of expected power the Mocom Racing 2.0ltr JDM STi ran 340bhp x 340ftlb with an exhaust change (retaining a catalytic convertor), an STi panel filter and a re-map.

Local is nice, but better to travel if necessary to get someone experienced
~ bad mapping possibly = meltdown ! (not exactly like building an Ikea wardrobe yourself ! ).

IMHO this is bollox

I have had a so called expert map my car before - knocklink went crazy and random cells, on every re visit ( 4 ) I became more and more down hearted with the car to the point in which I was going to sell it

Bob Rawles offered ( free of charge ) to help me pin point the failure and told me what i had to tell the previous mapper how to fix the problem

needless to say my car goes nowhere else but Bob now, he has helped out with all the stages of tha car and it has not missed a beat since

In all fairness i have never read a bad word about Andy F or Pavlo

My JDM went well on a remap, 3" exhaust, 3 port and panel filter...... 360+bhp I seem to remember.

Read the articles section for info.

Regards,
Shaun.

You have your opinion but I stand by what I say, if the person carrying out the mapping work knows what they are doing you will end up with very similar results.
Perhaps you should name who carried out the work (4 times) to prevent others experiencing the same............

Shaun, I've no doubt a Spec C vs my lowly STi would produce better numbers on a dyno but I wonder how much faster it (was at the time) in the real world, ie on the road? Nowt in it I reckon

Apart from Bob, who's old car I have, that is the only other place I think I would consider for a Twin Scroll.

I think the uprated pump would be an idea to fit before hand. I have one on mine and I think Shaun has one on his.

It would be nice to think that. But the problem is finding a mapper that really does know what he's doing. And I'm not for one second suggesting that you don't know what you're doing. However, it would be foolish to suggest that location should be the main factor in choosing your mapper, far from it.

Perfect practice makes perfect
