why is it stupid to ask if you stammer in your thoughts?

if someone else had asked the same question would you have reacted this agressive towards them?

i wont bother to commment on your last question, you need to get help mate

and sara, know why you posted after the chat on the phone the other day to that guy, but thinking about the question would have been better than posting it on here, regardless of your good intentions.

Stilover, you're up against the Sara Mafia here I'm afraid.

What you should have got was an apology for a thoughtless post but instead you get called an arsehole. That's SN for you..... dl

i think you will find that he was the first one to throw insults. he has a very big chip on his shoulder. i have said NOTHING wrong and i stand by what i posted.

i think he needs to see someone as he obviousley has deep rooted insecurities whaich he needs to address before he explodes

and you are just as bad for agreeing with him

i have nothing to apologise for except driving a yello car

It's a stupid question for one reason. A stammer is a speech thing, not a brain thing. Your thought processes do not stammer. That's why it's a stupid question. Think about it !!

Would I have reacted toward another poster who'd posted who'd asked that question in the same way? Yes.

I'm glad you didn't comment on your daughters condition. I had no intention of taking the p1ss, I'm not that sad as to pick on other peoples misfortunes, or health conditions. Shame you don't feel the same way.

As for I need help. I'm not the one posting p1ss take questions on here, am I?

Maybe if you sat and thought about things before you type them on here, you'd a) make a lot more sense, and b) wouldn't receive hostile responses to your dumb questions. Made worse I may add by then mocking anyone with a stammer by making silly comments.
Those silly comments made your original post sound more and more like a p1ss take.

Examples

"it might take a while for a line to be called."

"no one has been able to answer the question yet
unless someone is taking ages to get the first word out "

"he would if he could find the words "

Sorry. Remind me again how you're not taking the p1ss?

Can everyone please Chill. I've asked my friend to look at this. He laughed. He has the most dreadful stammer, as I stated earlier. We love him to bits and laugh with him, not at him. Sara did not mean any malice in ths thread. Nor did I, I just assumed (wrongly) other people with this problem would be the same as my dear friend.I was wrong.

As Swiss Tonia has already said, why not kiss and make up? Things have been asked/said which have obviously touched a sensitive issue, and remarks have been thrown back which can be taken in a similar vein.

For one moment, I don't think Squaresy posted her original question in an attempt to be malicious, or take the ****, but perhaps the way it was worded I can see how it may have offended some, but please don't assume it was intended.

Unless people ask things, no-one will learn, and people will continue to put their foot in it. I suffer from a medical condition, and people constantly say things which upset/offend me. I use the opportunity to educate them rather than intice them into a slanging match

look you simpleton. i asked one question as i had thought about it and wanted to know the answer. you have brought all the silly comments on yourself by accusing me of ulterior motives and a hidden agenda. i did not post the thread as a **** take, something had happenened earlier in the evening which prompted me to ask (this can be verified)

you called me 'a ******* stupid cow', you reverted to name calling........pot and kettle?

you are repeating yourself, i hear what you are saying just dont keep saying it, ok?

I might start a thread called:

"Any spastics on here?"

Do you have trouble eating an ice-cream? Do you drop them all the time or do you just stick them on your forehead?

On second thoughts, that might be construed as being a bit insensitive.

I can understand that you have reacted to this issue in a sensitive manner Stiover, but tryng to use an innocent six year old and her condition to strike your point is low

When I replied to your post, it didn't have the ice cream bit*. So I had to go and paste it separately.

Just to drag things back....

I *had* a stammer and can remember the exact date I lost it: 6th October 1984, the day I started Uni.

At its worst I was as bad as Gareth Gates. I could not string a sentence together for the life of me. Nowadays, people don't even know

When I said 'had' it's a slight exaggeration - I find reading out of a book VERY hard, but I can speak in front of crowds reasonably well. Stress brings it back on.

Oh, and to add a minor fan to the flames I did find Sara's initial question and further comments insensitive, but then I did attribute my continued stammer to the major grief I got at school which wiped out any self-confidence I may have developed.

(this is why I think the new start at Uni really helped, I kind of left it all behind.. but I did almost put an old school 'mate' through a wall when he thought he could carry on taking the p*ss when he met me the christmas after I started Uni. Yeah I was over-sensitive as well)

To answer the question: no you don't stammer in your head - the affliction feels like a barrier between the front of your mouth and your mind... the words kind of build up behind the mouth and almost 'tumble' over themselves inside.

I have an IQ somewhere north of 145 and was one of the top students in my year at school but I was forever being treated like I was sub-normal simply because I couldn't articulate clearly.

Also, I developed a broader vocabulary because I spent time looking up alternate words for those I had difficulty saying.. and I LOTS of problem words!!!!
