This thread is about snobbery of the brand, so what if the car looks ****, its his car and if he likes it/or doesnt like it, its up to him,
saying that he is lowering the subaru brand is just pathetic,as long as everyone enjoys their own car then there cant be a problem can there?
Give the lad a break!
this forum has changed, and not for the better

The issue was more how he has reacted; rather than the cars itself. He provoked the thread by abusing the people who didnt like it. Without that childish behaviour the thread would have petred out long ago.

I don't think it's about snobbery of the brand or many other reasons debated on here. I think it's more that the general consensus of the car (since this is what the two threads are all about, since this is an open forum and since the poster has decided he wanted to share his pride and joy with everyone) and the opinions of those people who have viewed it.
Everyone is entitled to enjoy their own car - fair enough. Reminds me of a good quote
'everyone is entitled to their opinion. But it is your assumption that I should wish to hear your opinion that is wrong'.
Mr_impreza wished to hear opinions. The fact that some may be overly hard or rude is the nature of opinions - the posters may not have felt (in their opinion) they were being hard.
I know, when I was 24, I had a Peco Big Bore exhaust and a K&N on my 1.1 Fiesta. It sounded the dogs. Now I look back and laugh at myself. Maybe many of us go through this stage. But I did not post pictures of it on the net.
The car is different, I agree. But that is what my SN fun to be on - widely differing opinions. I no longer own a Subaru, and would not say they are the greatest cars in the world by a long shot. But this is about taste. If I had a Volvo and did the same to it and posted it on the Volvo forum, would I get the same responses - of course.
He posted - waiting for opinions. He got them. And 88% of people think it's wrong.

at the end of day people on here are easy to react and pass judgement.
People pass comment and maybe he didnt expect the level of critism but its not just this thread accross the boards there is a level of abuse given, much of it quite harsh and offensive.

I cannot stand chav'd up cars, doesn't matter what make or model.
That is my opinion.
So with regards to his car, no, I don't like it.
Does that make me ****? Boring? Sad? Old?
I'm sure people with a chav mobil may say yes, and thats fine. I don't mind taking critisism from someone who thinks that lexus lights are

I started a poll to see if people could vote with only two options (I like it or I do not like it) so that it could be seen as being fair - so that if the 'young lad' wanted to ignore opinions, he could see what the poll said without reading anything else.
To be honest, I thought I was being fairer than most by doing that. If others wanted to add their opinions, 'tis fine by me.
The poll does not lie - you can only vote once so it cannot be rigged. And it still says the vast majority do not like the car.
But I will admit I do not like it (body kits should not be on cars IMO, as they very rarely work as adding to an enhanced aesthetic effective). And I do find some of the comments very amusing...

im personally not on for the guys car, nothing personal on mr_impreza, but i moved on from the more maxpower styling a while ago when i booked myself into the scooby rehab clinic lol. im gonna admit i still buy maxpower as a decent read on performance modifications, not so much the styling, so i await a couple of *interested* comments on that one.
i also never realised that having nurburgring stickers on my rear spoiler (only "3 x 3.5" in size on either side) would be classed as chavish by some, as i havent been to the ring yet. is it a disprespectful thing to have something like that on my scoob, only graphics i have on the car bar a rally swoosh on the bootlid. im planning a trip with alloy for next year anyway, so what would be the peoples reasoning on this. i get general people asking "well have you been to the ring" and i obviously reply not yet but planning it, so is it really that bad or wrong for me to have them on until i do go.
if i ever get chance (from working nights!!!) to go to any meets round this area would i get laughed away for indecent exposure... and putting the scoobynetters name to shame?
im quite interested on this one as i know there are some opinions where as standard is the best way, and some hate any sort of graphic altogether but im talking about something smaller than the palm of my hand?

Personally i think the bodywork mods are hideous, the paint job looks different though. What P's me off about this forum is that a member posts pics of his pride and joy and he gets a mauling. Despite the fact that most of you at his age were probably driving austin allegro's that were only held together with rust and doubled in value when you filled up the fuel tank. And that was when petrol was £1 a gallon ! Likewise, why do people get so defensive about owning a saloon version of a car and slag off the owners of wagons? Surely its about owning the marque and not the model. Some people find themselves in a position where a saloon isnt practical for their lifestyles, such as dog owners etc.
Anyway, at least if he comes to his senses he can easily do something about the mods, most of you halfwits that have given him a pounding would need either a personality transplant or at the very least an intellect boosting serum, neither of which will be available on the NHS any time soon.
