Not the only thing, but for me, avoiding green taxation (because i'm generally happy not to be buying the products that are being targetted) really isn't an issue. Like i say, small lifestyle changes, not bra-burning remonstrations.

the government go on about the usage of cars contributing to GW. All the new cars on the road are designed now a days to be safer and kinder to the environment and yet we get taxed more on these cars.
For example i had a nissan pathfinder for 2 months on 06 plate, it was 2.5 TD. in that 2 months i had it it was more economical and kinder to the environment due to its so little emissions that my 98 toyota rav4. so instead of taxing the new cars that are better for the environment its the older cars that should be penalised and they burn more fuel and produce more gases than the new ones. but then hey the government is thick and they always do things the wrong way around!

Agree with the sentiment, but how can you retrospecively tax cars already on the road? How would you suggest they implement that?

any cars over 10 years old be taxed more as they are less likely to pass the MOT than a new car, it will make people buy more new cars hence helpin the environment!

I thought Road Tax now - is measured against car emmisions anyway?

I think the government are planning to change this again, to take into account the power output of cars

If they do, how do they plan on implimenting this? RR every car at MOT time?

What!? Do you know how much energy it takes to build a car? A new car could breath fluffy bunnies out of their exhausts but it matters not a jot if it took a coal mine to build it in the first place!

Sheesh.
