Not the only thing, but for me, avoiding green taxation (because i'm generally happy not to be buying the products that are being targetted) really isn't an issue. Like i say, small lifestyle changes, not bra-burning remonstrations.

the government go on about the usage of cars contributing to GW. All the new cars on the road are designed now a days to be safer and kinder to the environment and yet we get taxed more on these cars.
For example i had a nissan pathfinder for 2 months on 06 plate, it was 2.5 TD. in that 2 months i had it it was more economical and kinder to the environment due to its so little emissions that my 98 toyota rav4. so instead of taxing the new cars that are better for the environment its the older cars that should be penalised and they burn more fuel and produce more gases than the new ones. but then hey the government is thick and they always do things the wrong way around!

any cars over 10 years old be taxed more as they are less likely to pass the MOT than a new car, it will make people buy more new cars hence helpin the environment!

I thought Road Tax now - is measured against car emmisions anyway?
I think the government are planning to change this again, to take into account the power output of cars
If they do, how do they plan on implimenting this? RR every car at MOT time?

Get rid of road tax is my suggestion. Basically, the more fuel-efficient a car engine is the less pollutants it pukes out the exhaust so what's the problem with having all the hit on fuel? That way as well those that driver furthest also pay more. Very simple ....
Dave
1. those that live in the country on farms etc that HAVE to have an uneconomic vehicle for various reasons get clobbered as well.
2. I am not counting CO2 as a pollutant. Without it the world would be a very dead place .... oh, but a more fuel efficient engine also lets out less CO2 ..
