Top day

Thanks to all, especially David and John for making sure I got my run in before midday!, not forgetting the bacon butties and coffee service!

Shame I couldn't stay (yet another wedding to attend), on my mind was the impending wrath of girlfriend had I been late - that being the reason I forgot to pay!! At least I wasn't the only one

An interesting note, my run produced an increase in bhp and a drop in torque when compared to a run I had earlier in the year. the only differences were lower ambient temps and a change in fuel for the latter run

Shame I missed Tang's run (or is that runner?) and the Lawson ensemble, meet up with you guys soon - especially the one I owe money to (what wedding?)

Babber (Phill C)

Yep chuffed with 238 BHP - only mod was service 2 weeks ago so clean standard air filter + Optimax & ECU reset The My96 has the TD05 bigger turbo so lag and peak at top end 6800rpm.

The real giveaway that it honestly is a standard car is the Torque only 223 lbs/ft

Anyway - too many ideas now - first boost gauge so I I can see I'm getting 09.bar - then exhaust & induction. Really tempted by the looks of the PE equal length manifold - gorgeous piece of kit - shame it ruins that lurvly scooby burble.

Anyway till next time -

Cheers,

Chris

Cool

First of all I'd like to say well done to Trout for organising a great day
Also well done to Truda for putting up with us lot and for keeping track of the results (I hope you did'nt lose your pen)

I had a good day (extremely happy with my scoob) and as everyone else has said, it was nice to put faces to names and meet a lot of Scooby netters, or should that be nutters...
Thanks to Merv and Chris as well for doing a great job (When are we going to see a phase II from PE ?)

Cheers

George

PS. The bacon butties were lovely and well appreciated

Maddest Tunner - Cool

Its only a little bit of laughing gas (ha ha ... he he)
Thanks to everyone on advice for why my car is running so little power (.8bar boost till 5500rpm them 1bar). Think a remap is needed. Can't wait to see the results when I get it running at 1.2bar of above.

Anyone interested in the NOS setup we have developed drop me a mail, the next kit will have an electronic controller that will do loads of functions (turbo timer, performance meter, 0-60, 0-100, air/fuel, boost guage, gear selected ... and anything else we can get from the ecu)

For anyone who is interested here is the dyno printout

Unhappy

Gutted that I didn't make it in the end

I think my plans for the week before were a little over enthusiastic, trying to fit the FMIC, Tubular Manifold, 440cc injectors and Water Injection in 3 days proved to be a bit much, and resulted in me succesfully stabbing myself in my right hand with a stanley knife, oops followed by bu**ring up the injector fitment and hydraulicing the engine when it flouded (no damage done...that I can see) oh and now not being able to produce sensible boost

Still Pat has been his ususal absolute legened and has got me mobile again (thanks Pat!) plus my second seemed to have fun , hmm what's this button for...oooh 40 hp...

Look lets get something straight, your car is not broken or running badly, it's a MY00 - they're all like that!

My car put out a measily 201BHP at PS and now I get 233BHP at PE 10k miles later. I do think that PE's rollers read 15 - 20BHP more than PS.

I've asked all the questions and reviewed as much info as I can find on the MY00 to pre MY00 differences. It seems that mechanically they are identical to MY99's but there is something different in the ECU. Afterall, I had a MY99 as well and that went a lot better than my MY00.

The conclusion IMHO is to get a link to replace the ECU. The MY00's that have, have been transformed. The downside is cost of course and some possible cold starting troubles.

Floyd, you state that the problem with the Link in cost and cold start.

Cost = It costs about the same as a unichip with a 'PROPER' boost controller, and is cheaper than a Motec or Pectel.

Cold Start = This takes a few attempts to get right, but I myself and plenty of others DONT have a problem with it.

Please get the facts CORRECT before slatting a product.

Moe... cheers matey

Steve, you better ask Trout how to get a 'Silly cast far'... he's our resident flyfishing expert

Danny, at least I had a legit' reason to get someone else to do the work Anyway have you ever tried to stop Pat when he's on a mission!

I don't know why it is but my knock link, and knock readings are way down since fitting the headers, front mount and injectors...I accidentally took the car to 7400 rpm today without a serious det (read 66 on the datalog), the red line is set at 7200...oops....

Au contrae Danny, I'm not slating the link at all! It's just the reverse, as I'd like one dearly (excuse the pun) but the bank balance won't stretch to any 'ECU' type mod at the moment.

I was just stating that to properly fix the MY00's problems you'll need a link. There have been some cold start niggles with this product and £1200 for the whole package (link, mapper, knocklink and lambda link)is a downside in anyones language, BUT does not mean that I am slating it OK!!!!!!

Pah! some people.

Floyd,

I know what your saying about my car, but the bloody thing was fine until the 15 k service, honest. That was when the fun started!!! Upto that point it was flying then all of a sudden, it started to play up. Before 31 MPG, now around 18 MPG on a run!! Hesitating, over boost, running rich

They're not all like that, sorry I don't accept this, even Merv at PE said that it felt ****e

http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...ThreadID=15372

http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...ThreadID=30193

Story so far, my fleet manager has been talking to ACL (fleet managers for my company) top technical bloke, and they are taking the Scoobysports exhaust off again, and drafting a letter, with the aid of my company lawyers and ACL lawyers to IM. They are not fixing the root cause, the ECU IMHO!!!

I've told my fleet manager to stick the car where the sun don't shine, but due to the Whole Life Costs, it's more expensive than a E320 and it's classified as a Directors car, and we can't find any idiot to take it off my hands.

Still I wouldn't want to stitch anyone up with it, so IM better sort it out.

Rant over!!!

Cheers Phill C

PS Other solution is to buy myself or sell to someone privately. At least if I buy it I can go for a link

Phil

We didn't get to meet at the RR day! We've been posting about the same stuff on and off as well.

I've re read the posts and I believe you but your car produced more power than mine and your car was off-form. How does that make me feel!!!!!Tsk. BTW I've never got 31MPG even on a run to Knockhill, where I got 28MPG.

It would be interesting to see what a link would do to your car or even a MY99 ECU. Does any one know of a reason why you can't put a MY99 ECU in a MY00?

I'll ask the question in Drivetrain.

Floyd,

My understanding of the ECUs is the MY99 is the same as the MY00, so shouldn't make any difference. I have a mate that has a spare MY99 ECU, so will ask him if I can try it...

Yes mine produced more power, but I have got a ITG, Scoobysport Downpipe and backbox, so should be a bit more than standard, but isn't So don't feel bad.

Shame we didn't meet at the RR day. I should have come and found you for a chat.

Cheers Phill C

PS I wil be at Bedford on Friday, watching the event though
