But why use a pager when you can have a phone and find out what they want without finding a phone and ringing them back?

I have always had a BT phone. I carried a pager as well.
TBH, mobile kept me less paranoid about my kids' whereabouts.
I mainly use it for business.
I hate texting
In summery, I still don't find them to be that dependable. I can cope without them

We had big red phone boxes on street corners and made do with it. Mobile phone industry what a rip off most contract are like £500-600 a year - unreal and then if your phone is more than 6 months old you give it to your dad as it would be embarrasing to use!

Mobiles are for the insecure who fear reality.

If someone REALLY needs to speak to you, they'll get you eventually. Learn to live your life for YOU, not to be driven by someone else interrupting it

Do you know that if the following words were never said on mobiles ("Where are you?", "I'm on the train"), then we'd collectively spend £600m per year less on mobile call charges

Easily, it would be wonderful.

My job involves tech support for mobile networks. There's nothing worse than being called out at 3am to fix an "urgent" network problem, when you know the only people affected will be benefit sponging chav w@nkers sending inane drivel by SMS to their tw@ttish mates.

Smash all technology and live a simple pastoral lifestyle.

I wouldn't have to queue up behind ten year old kids handing their 500 ten pences to the newsagent to top up their phone.

They would be slimmer too as they would have to go round to their mates house and ring the doorbell.

Behead all mobile phones.

I hate being uncontactable and hate not being able to get in touch with someone on demand. Least I can send a txt message and know that someone will get it as soon as possible. Dont know what Id do without mine. I broke my watch a few weeks ago and I feel naked without that too.

I don't have one!

It's great, when I leave work I'm completely uncontactable, what a relief.

I'd suggest if you can't imagine life without one, you need serious help.
