If it came in from Europe it is MUCH more likely to be an Euro import STi not a Spec C. Especially with UK warranty cover and in the UK dealer network.
Is it a 2.5l engine?
It is possible but I have never heard of a Spec C coming in via Europe, only direct from Japan.

PS What colour are the seats? This will be a big clue

Sorry mate but there is no such thing as a Spec C with 2.5l engine - well not from Subaru anyway.
The Spec C is the homologation basis for the Subaru rally cars and so has to be a 2.0 engine just like the competition cars. There are also no 2.5l Impreza's in the JDM market and the Spec C is solely a JDM marketplace car.
IMHO you have been sold a Euro STi import - I hope you did not pay Spec C money for it as if you have you have been taken for a LOT of money.

That confirms it - Spec C seats are all black - the Sti is black/blue.
Also the turbo is a VF36 not a VF22.
You have either been mistaken or misled when you bought it. This car is definately not a Spec C.

MY06 (which is the car he claims to have) the seats are all black.
There are variants where the seats are not black and in the basic Spec C they are.

BTW - back on topic. If you have an STI and you drive it hard, especially on track, you can get fuel surge issues which can lead to detonation.
If the car is driven like this a lot you can either fit the STi anti-surge kit as fitted as standard to the Spec C or you can get aftermarket anti-surge kits - try RCMS.
If this is not your problem it is a lot of expense to go to for the sake of it.
The problem manifests itself on long fast right handers that push the fuel over to the left hand side of the saddle tank.

If you didn't know not to use fully synthetic oils whilst running a car in, you shoudn't be driving at all, let alone Impreza's and Evo's!
What a pleb!

Blue/black seats are definately STi on a MY06.

was speaking to a guy who works for subaru, the myth of import cars not being serviced by a dealer is a a load of rubbish. its all money to them after all. as far as warrenty goes, it won't a a subaru uk warrenty it will be with the import comapny

nah mate, not anymore, is a myth that has no foundation anymore. warrenties are perhaps a different issue but they'l service them etc no probs (hes a mechanic and works on them )

How can it be a myth if it was true?
It was true and now in some cases it isn't.
On topic the original comment was that a JDM import had a Subaru warranty and could be sold via a Subaru franchised dealer as a used car. Both of which remain as not a myth but a reality.
Many franchised Subaru dealers will still not work on, or supply parts for, a JDM import.
