Nice one Arron.
Contrary to unpopular opinion the Sport is said to be pretty good off road. And lets be honest, how many Range Rover/Discovery owners go off road themselves?
At least you've had the sense to go for the one that handles better on road, and looks (IMO) the best of the lot.
Personally, I fancy having a serious look at the new X5, 'cos I don't live anywhere near cheshire and don't give a toss what anyone thinks. If someone wants to judge me on what car I drive, that's their issue, not mine.
In the meantime, here's a bumper sticker you could attach for people like Torpid

I mean why mention it? Why say that? Are you just trying to wind people up? You know I spend a lot of time on a Ferrari website and it's really incredible how different it is to here, don't get any of this boasting stuff, I wonder why......!
As I've already said 60K is peanuts in an age where a ****ty new build house on some brown field estate in a hellhole like basildon is going for a quarter million.
I too spend time on forums dedicated to high end marques and I agree it is very different there. No accusations of jealousy when you merely state an opinion of a car for example...............
A W12 phaeton was out of my price range, thus the S8.

Wasn't the RR Sport the one that Clarkson took offroad on the tank range? Looked pretty good to me.
Great choice of car, the biggest problem is the jealous, poor people and environmentalists that complain about them though because they haven't got a life of their own.

Good choice - afterall, if you'd bought a normal, handles-like-a-barge, Range Rover, everyone on here would be shouting:
Are you the farmer??!!??
Personally I like both the RR Sport and the latest Land Rover. The latter is supposed to have better road manners than the normal RR too.
As for off-roading, it'll be more than capable of trundling over some wet grass enroute to the jetty for a bit of fishing

If we have to stereotype then Disco's are a family car, bought by school run mothers and then used to filled to them brim with stuff for the family camping holiday in France. Occasionally used to tow horsefloats.
Out of all the SUVs the RR sport is the one to have at the moment.

RR Sports is a lovely car and I would like one myself. Dont worry what people think, just go out, buy it and enjoy it. What ever you earn, what ever you spend, is your business and you dont have to prove anything.
Dont get dragged in to explaining yourself and hwo you make / spend your cash.
RR Sport, VW Torag, Audis, Bmw estates, LRovers, all good cars. Would love anyone of them.

Without being funny here (and hopefully to get back to talking about the cars and NOT the image etc) are they now genuinely reliable?
Sadly I get concerned with anything that is even slightly associated with being 'British'

Unfortunately the latest Discovery is getting slated because of electrical faults, but I think the RR's have been a bit more reliable or they've kept it quiet about them.
But at the end of the day if my life depended on one I'd be in a Toyota or Nissan.

I live in Wilmslow, Cheshire (sorry) and the RR Sport does seem to be very popular there, damn handsome vehicle but I reckon the problem is that its a bit too racy looking to be classy, Range Rover's do look more imperious, its like the Sport its the Rangies rebellious and flash son.
Glad you got the V8 diesel as there was one the other day emitting huge clouds of coal trying to get out of its own way whilst trying to hog the outside lane (reserved for Saabs round that neck of the woods) and it pulled over (now that was a surprise), god it was slow, all that show and no go.
Now I cannot afford one, based on the liquid cash rule but it doesnt automatically mean I am consumed with envy, maybe it it were a Noble, 911 or anything of that ilk but not really for big off roaders.
I suppose if you really must the RR Sport is the one to have, it amazes me how many people have enough money to buy one !
It would be interesting to subject the 4*4 haters to a lie detector test and ask them questions about their motivations for their ire, it would be equally illuminating to get the owners to do the same about their reasons for buying one. I dont think the SUV is the environmental criminal some would have us beleive, not compared to say an Easyjet 737 flying back and forth to Allicante 5 times a day.

RR Sports do suffer badly from electrical issues. This is what put me off. I tend to go on RRSPORT.CO.UK - Index But, this is a new engine, in a new car, so LR might of sorted various problems.
Although not as sexy, a nice Landcruiser Amazon, in silver, 20" alloys, now thats the daddy !

What clarkosn did was grass and gravel, average roads for many countries, who utilise 80's toyota corollas and lada rivas to navigate.

Maybe 18months later but I think the V8 lump will keep the depreciation fairly good initially.
Who cares

Arron,
F#ck the whingers its your toy and they are fantastic to drive, i couldnt agree more that the V8 Diesel will kill the petrol model and you will be suprised of its residual value mainly based on the fact its a Diesel.
I know of somebody who has just this week got a V8 Diesel RR and is in love with it, he says it has taken the car to a whole new level. He traded a supercharged petrol version for it.
I do business with a LR dealer and they where telling me 90% of his recent orders and enquiries have all been for the V8 Diesel RR and Sport models.
