I need 400BHP.....
#31
Personally, what I have now is the end of any testing / development I have and will be doing on the hybrid twin scroll (using IHI housings etc). Not to put too finer a point on it, but the standard VF is very efficient and good at what it does..... even though this can be improved with hyrbidisation. 400bhp is achievable, but I have yet to drive such a turbo to see what it is like.
You need to be SOOOOOOOOOOOO careful about number chasing, as the difference between what I have and 400bhp is perhaps not worth it. Now if you said you wanted 450bhp+ that would be a different story and a different ball game..... but still you may be concious of the driveability.
By the end of this month I should of published my Stage 2 article, so you will see what I mean in that about driveability and real world performance...... put it this way if you want more than a newage doing 0-60 in less than 3.8s and 0-100 in less than 9s you best start thinking about bigger figures than 400bhp!
Track use has been 100% fine on my engine with minimal mods...... sure certain things may eek a bit more, but for what cost?! Is it really worth it?! For an extra 15bhp over my figures I doubt it very much.
All imho of course.
To conclude.....
I am between a rock and a hard place, as regards to what to do next. Leave as is or go the full hog.
Mmmmmmm, I wonder
Regards,
Shaun.

P.S. I ahve no idea who supplys Mark with the above up-pipe, but that (or similar) pipe is already in production and used on the new Type25 (Milltek supplied) so it certainly works and will be an option for me once I have chosen my configuration details.

I think it is no secret that these cars have been out for 3 years and still there is no real upgrade. With single scroll the GT/R series Garretts seem to be the weapon of choice as there are so many options.
The pipe looks quite 'logical' to me as the headers themselves are equal length 4 into 2 primaries.
The up-pipe simply looks like it takes the manifold to a 4-2-1 configuration, which is always good for torque (At least it was in RWD Escorts ).
As long as the manufacturer has got the size and lengths right for 'pulse' then there should not really be any turbulant interferance???
Or am I talking complete 'bobbins'???
