NOT ALL!!, But certainly too many scoob owners know dick all about cars or tuning unfortunately and a subaru is probably the fastest car alot of people could ever hope to own.
When i have enough dollar to have a few cars i'll definitely buy another cossie and build one from a bare shell.
IMO the ultimate scoob would be YBT powered

From what ive seen of track videos etc, cossies are always whooping scoobs, yeah, you get the odd one that might beat a cossie, but i saw a vid of a scoob chase a cossie, finally overtook it and then woooooooooooop, the cossie comes from behind and overtakes the scoob as if it were stood still, madness power !!!!
granted there are slower cossies too, all have been escort cossies by the way

Unlike alot of people think a scoob is the ultimate because its a subaru.
Ive said before im not chasing numbers with my STI.... im just chasing that sick feeling you get when you bury the throttle in a cosworth.
I love my scoob, i just wish it was exciting.. once youve been bitten by a seriously exciting car.. nothing any less can come close

I've had 2 escorts and a saff and an STI5 typeR and now 04 STI UK.
Agree with frayz, the cossies feel totally different to drive to the scoobs but I gotta say that powerwise, the cossies have had their day.
I don't mean bhp figures, I mean real world acceleration.
My 370bhp escos struggled to pull away from my mates 265bhp 2000 classic. I only started to leave him over about 70.

In standard form cossies are dog slow.. IMO so are stock scoobs.
My point is the excitement factor.. im not interested in a cossie/scooby slanging match.. i just want my scoob to excite the same as the cos did

I am pretty sure that is the stretch of road I think it is and I am pretty sure which Scooby 'crew' that lot is. Often done the same off the lights from there with the lot of them but unfortunately without a Cossie as a pace car.
As for the Cossie apparently being some mind blowing experience that a Scooby can simply not match - I don't personally believe all this the way it is posted here. I reckon at the best the Cossie just felt less under control and therefore faster. It you enjoy being scared because the car effectively isn't coping then fair enough... as for the whole power delivery thing - that is easily rectified with a big turbo if you want that. The most scared I've been was in a mates old Metro Turbo thingy... felt very dangerous... does that mean I'd rather have one of those than my current car - no. How many RWD cossies ended up getting wrapped around trees btw? Quite a few I would guess. Can't be more than a handful with a straight chassis left.

I ... Like you, own a V7 STI, its on a 20g turbo so not small exactly and i guesstimate around 340+bhp
The cos was a similar spec with a T34 and the power delivery was much much much different.
The scooby i feel doesnt have anywhere near the balistic power delivery of ths cos.. if this means my car is better, smoother etc then so be it but i just dont find it exciting enough

Unfortunately having owned a fairly standard Type RA and a highly modified RWD saph it's hard to compare. The saph running 430bhp to the scoobs 280bhp. I would describe my scoob as still being in the normal realms of sports cars, highly capable, easy to drive fast A-B struggled top end.
The saph could not be floored unless the road was anything other than dead straight. Playing the game of acceleration round bends was the difference between 80bhp and 430bhp in the flick of a boost guage. I would not have been able to keep with my scoob down bendy roads, infact I would be left far behind in the saph.
Straight line I never found another car that could live with the saph, indeed only a friend with a R1 motorbike manged to creep past it, and I mean creep.
I would love one day to drive a scoob with similar power so I could make a better comparison. But for me the scoob is the far more balanced car however, given the choice, I would ask for the saph's keys back so I could have one more terrifying blast of adrenaline.

I think its nice people that still have their feet on the ground can discuss what they dont like about their cars as much as what we do like about them.
I for one am a complete out and out petrolhead and enjoy all things big power and fast.. that includes cars that are not of the subaru marque.
I love my scoob, else i would sell it... i just want it to be more exciting
