dreamer_girl, Differences between EU and UK car are as previously mentioned.
1. No alarm ( can get the original cat1 sigma fitted for £300)
2. No tracker (again £400 fitted with first years subscription)
3. No mats
4. No extra underbody protection for uk roads (can easily get this done relatively cheap)
As far as warranty is concerned it is the same as the uk one as long as you stick to the supplying countries service intervals. Always check these with your broker. The first year is manufacturers (ie Subaru Japan) and next two years are by the supplying dealer which is the same deal as here in the uk.
The only issue you may get re the warranty is the fact that the uk dealer will have to seek authorisation from the supplying dealer before he can carry out repairs and in some cases this has taken up to six weeks. I have heard lots of people on here say they have had no problems at all.
If you need to know anything else about the buying process then PM me and I am more than willing to offer advice.

Hi, back in July I was facing the same decision (but with used cars). I tests drove a standard WRX, WRX PPP and STI Type UK.
I opted for, and purchased, the STI Type UK. The reasons were, although it has the same bhp as the WRX PPP it just felt faster (sounds odd i know) and I felt it drove better. Also, I have to say that i prefer the STI seats aswell and i also found people telling me that its a better model for upgrades! (have not done any yet though)
My other thing was that the whole STI just seems to look the part - even though its far easier to get spotted testing your car out by your local friendly police person!
Dont know if it helps, but I am seriously happy with my STI - definately money well spent.

Also, my understanding is that in more recent years, the "additional" 2 years of warranty is now pan-European (at least within the EU) and so warranty repairs should be just as easy to get done.
Bigger issue which is a bit more relevant to the thread is that there have been reports that PPPs need to be fitted in country of origin to maintain warranty; if you have to take the car back to e.g. Holland to get the PPP fitted it's a bit of a pain! (Can't comment on this as I modded my mine with aftermarket parts to give significantly more poke than the WRX PPP)

So "twin scroll" doesn't mean two separate turbos ? And it results in better low range response ? What's the rev range ? Is Pippyrips a boy or girl ?

Well I did it !
After testing a plain WRX (the PPP one didn't materialise) and not liking it, I went to another dealer and tested a standard STi.
For what I want it for, I don't need the PPP (having now experienced a standard STi) and tbh I didn't like the exhaust tone at 30mph (fine above 50!), so I put a deposit down !!!
It's about 6 months old, 3k miles on it, Black, and they're part-ex'ing the S2000.
Can't wait !
Somehow I need to get my private plates xferred onto the Caterham before Saturday though, so I can give them the S2000! How likely is that

Compared to my S2000 the WRX PPP is at least as quick but very soft - something I am sure the Sti won't be Enjoy !

Gaz has pretty much summed up the differences, it has been debated too many times before to go again but the search function will reveal all.
In all the only downside (to some) with the newage jdms are that you loose the scooby 'burble' sound due to the equal length headers. I do miss the burble though mine on full chat sounds like a 1000cc bike which is equally pleasing Other than that JDMs are are equal or better in every department. Spec-c's even more so

4-6 weeks to either transfer a number plate to another vehicle, or to put it on retention, and that's even if you go in person to your DVLA local office! Plus they have to send you the forms, you cannot download them from the DVLA website!

My RX8 had RE040's on it from new and they were absolutley lethal in the wet. I changed them to RE050's and they were miles better. Just as good in the dry, much better in the wet and a lot quieter on the road with far less tramlining.

I found the PPP made a lovely growly noise, but I hated the drone at 30-40mph. I assume that changing the back box would do this.
Also, I am trying (not successfully!) to get into modifying it; I have a Caterham that takes up all my modifying energy. Although knowing me it won't be long til I want to play!!!!

They come on here quite a lot, and for good prices too. As for the headers its not that simple. You would need a new single-scroll turbo and new sump i believe. You would also lose power as the headers add around 15+20bhp + more torque i think

Mine has been remapped for uk fuel so is fine - also pushes out about 350bhp which is nice
