Track day cars......any ideas??

Depends on the car, my old one was one of the first VTRs and was surprisingly close to a VTS in a straight line.
Then came my first ever trip to Crail - my report on it will be on this site somewhere from about 4 years ago! After a few runs I was settled in and knew the way the lights worked, etc. I lined up for another run and looked over at a stock VTR (driver only) (in the horrible gold colour!). A few nice words between me and the other driver and we were ready to go. He seemed seasoned and I was shaking like a leaf that if I messed up my start he'd maybe even beat me. Holding 3000rpm and waiting.............lights change and we are off. Some chirping and I catch traction and go foot to the floor at around 4000rpm. I look over and we are side by side - oh god! 4000rpm still there!!! Then the VTS came on cam and what happened next can only be described as obliteration. I left the VTR for dead through 2nd and 3rd gears opening up around 8-10 car lengths down the strip!! I beat it by around the same margin that my modified scooby was beating stock VTS's!
We ran again a little later on and the result was the same. I then raced another stock one and again the same result - as soon as I hit cam it's well and truly over. Finally a modified VTR had a go and he put up a slightly better fight but still lost by a very considerable distance. At this point I realised talk of VTRs keeping up with VTSs was purchase justification at the extreme. Over the 30,000 miles and 1.5 years I had it the results on the street were also the same with the VTS having no problem in pulling away from VTRs when in its stride. The only time I struggled was one night between traffic lights where I had a short blat from 20mph to 50mph and we were basically side by side but that's because we were in 2nd gear and the VTS only started to make any inroads at 45mph (in 2nd) at which point I was ready to lift.
I realise my post is quite long and largely pointless but this is something I feel quite strongly about I don't own and probably never ever will own either car again so I have no reason to lie but IME the VTS is a lot quicker and anyone that has the fair choice between the two would be pretty mad to go for the VTR IMHO.
One thing I will add though is that BOTH the vts and vtr can have their performance badly harmed by poor aftermarket mods, ice upgrades, wheel upgrades or extra passengers. With 120bhp/930kg in the VTS sticking your 16st mate in the passenger seat and a full tank of gas makes a noticeable difference. Similarly if you take a stock VTS and fit heavy aftermarket 17s, a body kit, a power sapping but good looking exhaust and 40kg of speakers, subs and amps then it would probably be slower than a bone-stock VTR. Sticking the chuffing big wheels on would probably be enough to ruin the performance alone

Brakes were absolute rubbish though - suffered brake loss on a spirited drive

I did see the white one on PH that you have, and i was tempted for 2k,but i am pretty sure they would not take that for it as it does look very good, plus it was not too bad distance wise from me...............and white really appeals at the moment for some reason
Might give em a ring though, you never know

mg zs 180 .
standard car strips to under 1100 kg's ,with just an induction kit ,de cat and catback zorst it will see 190 bhp with that lovely v6 torque and sound, one of the best front drive handling cars ever too.
Some from this forum have seen mine (and been passed by it ) and have been very impressed.
