My 3 year old son made an excellent fluffy spider at playgroup for Halloween, that was quite good!

Dont read crap papers like The Sun, they stir up feelings like your experiencing SSB. Have a break from newspapers and tv news, I reckon you'll notice a positive difference after a while.

There are plenty of good things, thou the bad can sometimes drag it all down.

In Colchester, the planning officers have just approved a new travellers site on green belt land, this will allow 11 travelling families to have permanent homes, thus meaning they won't be doing much travelling. At the moment the site is just a field with lovely views of the surrounding countryside, but soon it will be put to good use.

Who says the news is all bad?

Strange that the more stupid the person, the better they think things in this country are.

Nobody is suggesting everything is rosey. Just some people like to look at things in a positive way rather than spend their lives whining and bitching.

In my opinion we still have a great country!
We have a FREE NhS service (yes it isnt perfect before anyone moans but then patiant care could always be improved upon its a bottom-less pit), all houses that we live in have hot running water, electricity and warm beds, we have the internet that makes the world a smaller place therefore we can browse the world like never before. Most of us will own cars (hopefully a scooby) so we can walk 'if we feel like it', we have a government that lets us vote on how we want the counrty to be run, and the majority rules. We have a police force (again not perfect) but they do on average a good job. We have high world status and are not all dying of aids, starving to death, or suffering famine, so for all the moaners out there, yes i do empathise to some degree, there are alot of things wrong with this country, but their are also alot of great things that we need to remember

Next time you feel like this is a ****ty country to live in, just look at africa and imagine how you would feel with the weight of things they have to deal with compaired to us

Anyway thats how i try to look at life, but bet i still get slated from someone, but hey ho, that as they say is life

And in this thread you have the perfect answer about why Britain is such a crap place to live.

It's because of the whining, depressed, BRITISH people living there. The ones who come from a Victorian Protestant upbringing which makes you feel guilty if caught enjoying yourself.

Find some other nationalities to talk to, they're a lot happier, even though they're poorer and probably have to work 80 hours a week just to feed the family. On SN we have a bunch of spoilt IT geeks who surf **** and SN all day, buy a new turbocharged car every year, wonder what mobile and what plasma TV to get next, and then complain about how bad their country is.

What a bunch of tossers.

Nothing lost if people are about. Car is just a "thing". You will get another one soon. You will get a better work contract soon! Cold is a sh!tter, agreed. Winter is murder, agreed.
We are about if that counts

ok heres an example

and please dont get too hung up on the spelling as i'm a bit worse for ware after the CAMERA beer fest in aberdeen the night

i have been working over in the caspian area for the last 4 or so years
this covers Baku and Turkmenistan.
Baku had been 2nd on the list of the most corrupt countrys for some time now and am not sure of its placement of late, but i'm pretty sure it's still up there among the greats (number 1 being Nigeria surprise surprise)
but my stays overs there aint been that bad,
you can get done over in your own home town-street as easy as getting done over else where in the world.

remember this and you could be onto a winner.

but my main point =
On a recent trip to Turkmenistan i was told about a young lad who had been injured on the rig i was due to go out and work on.
i shant go into too many details as most of you wont know what the hell i was trying to describe,
but the chap was about 20 years old and had only been working on the rig for about 2 weeks followed the instructions of the other people he's been working with. This is the main reason why he lost his lower half of leg to a piece of machinery !!
he'd followed what other people had been doing and had been doing for ages, this did not save him or his leg. it was to try andf kick into place a piece of wood to redirect the flow of "mud". The piece of wood got stuck, so he was to kick into place this bit of wood, this is where he slipped and his foot got dragged into an auger.

To get to and from the rig we use a boat, which is about an hour and a half from port, then a car had to take him to the hospital, about 4-5 hours due to the "road" being the state it is,
How this guy was still alive by the time he got there i can only guess.
Or they strapped him up.
Either way, i pitty the poor bugger, because
1.he's not going to get any benifit,
2.he may get some small pay out from the oil company (yes it shall be verry small)
3.he wont be able to do any sort of "normal" work over there due to only having one good leg.
4. he wont be able to rely on his other relations as they are as poor as everyone else.
5. he was in fookin agony for ages before he got any treatment

this could happen to anybody at any time in these places
it's only self preservation that can help stop this kind of thing from happening

stay safe

steve

I lost an electric screwdriver once - still have the charger. Although that's not much use now tbh.
