Saab beats Impreza in a straight line

we have cottonedonto this one but it tends to be kept in teh ranks of those in the know.
Those in the know told me about it anyway.
Trouser,
How much are they? are they fse? do they come with the adapter which removes the standard fpr from the rails?

I'm a fan of the classic 900T16 also. Tried looking for one of these a few years back. They were so highly sort after I could only find a few tatty mega milers and I gave up in the end.
Although performance is strong they are a bit of a torque steering writhing mess at slow speeds when you use all the performance. But they dont feel unsafe - in fact its quite entertaining.

Trouser, that's a gorgeous looking car! Love the 'classic' shape 900's
Unfortunately, like Wilf said, good ones are hard to find it seems. Witness my mate - took off fuel pump in boot to fix it: "errr, Dave, why's your Gunmetal grey car got red paint in the boot well?"
Cheers for RRFPR info too.

Hey Trouser,
That was a recent piccie you posted cos I see my Scoob in the background obviously waitin' ever so patiently for its Eibachs, which I look forward to this evening.
As for your comment about TSL-badged Saabs and their performance, thanks for the loan care today YEEHAAAWWWW!

We stock the FSE RRFPR for the scoob. The price of this is £95 plus the VAT and includes the adapter from the Fuel rail.
It won't suddenly endow your scoob with an extra 20 bhp or any thing like that, but the tangible benefits are smoother and quicker throttle response and a general improvement in driveabilty. In most cases you will notice a (very) slight improvement in MPG as well .... (Whats that??!! says everyone.. )
Fitting can be a tad of sod!!, it depends on the year of your car, AC or not etc etc and can take even US a couple of hours and often some fancy fabrication of a bracket type nature. This is not a problem tho!
If you need any info, please mail or call!
Cheers
Trouser
(even amazed at his own ability to hi-jack a thread for commercial gain!! )

Dunno what ya mean, Trouser, beauty is always in the eyes of the beholder and I couldn't help but spot the best-looking car in the bunch ....
By the way, that 9000 you've loaned me is great with 130K on the clock, bit interestin' in the corners tho - hope you can get the stain outa the seat?

i like them....look that is cos not driven one.
having said that i am considering the 2.2 TiD for my lease car (wont bore u but all things considered its gotta be a diesel of some description.)
perhpas i ought to wander over to the Saab boys for some saab diesel advice.........

What's going on here, Saab vs Scooby, get a grip people. 215 bhp front wheel drive vs 250 bhp PPP FWD? Just look at the stats, there is no comparison on a dry road, let alone a slippy wet standard english A/B road. And if you look at the higher powered examples of the Saab, well the problems are just compounded. I don't particularly care if the thing has cost me only £2000, I've seen what you get for that price and it's not very pretty.
It's bad enough that our cars are compared to the likes of the new MG'S and T5's, but like the afore mentioned, you can power them up to whatever spec you like but above 200 bhp two wheel drive spins those front wheels and you aint going anywhere until grip returns, and when you do, usually FWD cars are an awful long way ahead, end of story, once into the turns, well...............
Wait for the Focus RS to arrive and see what time it does on a full launch sprint, remember it's got 5.4'ish to beat to better the,(old shape),Scooby as std.

As you might have guessed I have a Saab 900 T16S and have also driven a collegues 6 month old WRX on several occasions. The big advantage the WRX has over the Saab is roadholding, there is no comparison the WRX handles much much better. Acceleration there isn't much in it but I would say the Saab has more mid range torque. The WRX is a very nice car, shame it looks like a Chrysler Neon! (sorry)

Scoob tech,
Ive gone up against a 9000 2.3t cse in a pug 306 gti-6 (standard) and kept up so either he wasnt trying hard enough (which he was, trust me ) or his car was knackered
at the silly speeds i was actually catching him!! Now my pug was no match for my scoob, that i can tell you and ive also a friend with a 9000t thats been to abbott racing (pushes around 230bhp) and even thou they are good cars it isnt a match either
(i do love the 99's thou shame there aint many around )

That must be one fast pug!!
The Aero is standard, book figs are 225bhp & 342Nm at 1800rpm with a torque curve that looks like a pancake! Can't say I've been up against a gti-6 but its the mid-range acc of the saab that seems to eat everything bar supercars- not bad for a flat capped, pipe smoking, tartan rug carrying volvo type thing from sweden.
As for the old ferarri bit, I'm no expert on Italian cars but I think they only built one type of Mondial, and come on it was nearly a decade ago they did that marketing bit!!

Well here goes!
Yes Yes Yes! ive come over from the Saab side, Ive been in alot of fast cars in my time and i have to say that my Saab is one of the fastest midrange that ive been in , this is where its inherant traction problems dont affect it!
As for a 306gti6 beating a 2.3turbo Saab well there must have been something not quite right there, i used to have a much modified mk1 golf and this would trounce a friends gti6 at any speed-my Saab has much quicker acceleration than the Golf even though that was dyno'd at 155bhp at the wheels and was stripped out inside.
Its all down to torque and the Saab has this in abundance especially when tweaked like mine and alot of others-its so easy to do and costs hardly anything whilst still retaining full knock protection.
Now before you all start jumping down my throats i do appreciate fast cars including Subaru's but they are not the ONLY fast cars out there!
My friends have MR2 turbo's,GT4's and 200sx's, a friend of theres has a WRX and the 200sx(raised boost)pulls away from this over 80mph- i can hold this car all the way upto 125mph!
This is all straight line stuff though mind you-through the corners a Scooby would leave me for dead!
My side of the story
Pete.

Hi
A lot of these this vs that are academic, although reasonably entertaining.
Road races, which let's face it is what we're talking about here depend on one main factor - The willingness of the drivers to flout the law, endanger others and themselves in order to get ahead.
It's the driver of the car that more likely to make the difference than almost any amount of torque/bhp.
There are plently of track days throughout the year and I'd love to see what a well sorted Saab can do.
