Saab beats Impreza in a straight line
#62
well i took a 197,000 mile saab that i brought for £150 on the rac rally . from thursday to sunday it was given a good caning to get from stage to stage and it never missed a beat. ok it was a bit slow being a lowly 900i but it carried me and the missus and all our camping gear over and through a lot of rough stuff while trying to keep up with a focus and a turbo diesel 205 i can't knock it it done us proud and now my dad drives it to work . best £150 i ever spent!

IMO if ur racing someone on the road it doesnt matter too much if u got 4wd--- in my experience (and i go out looking to race), races very rarely happen from a standing start, usually from 30+mph, so 4wd grip wont help much. Also 4wd handling shudnt help cuz if ur RACING anywhere where the bends are tight enough to need it, ur being bloody dangerous!
FWD is lame, but does loose a lot less power to the wheels.
This is only road racing, track is a different story.
IMO IMO IMO!!! (cuz i know how defensive all u scoobers are)

Cheers for the points Trouser. I'll add em to my I-Spy book of Saabs!
Of course I've got a flat cap - I'm a bald beggar so I need all the help I can get! (no whippet yet though!)
Thanks for the invite - mate of mine has just moved to Radcliffe on Trent (if that's anywhere near you?), so I may well be up that way soon if I can get through Watford Gap!
Cheers,
Steve

Whippet????
So wait, wait I am compiling a list here.........
To own a Saab you must have........
A very old school way of talking
A flat cap
A tartan rug
Can I add the pipe to the list or is that an added extra
So where does the whippet fit in is this if you are a real enthusiast?????

He he – LOL @ Michelle!
For the sporting Saab - you have to ‘whip-it’ to make it go faster ‘Chelle!
Of course you can add a pipe – as long as it’s 3 inch diameter & stainless!
A tart in a rug is an optional accessory, but possibly more entertaining than a dog that just nods its head up & down!!
Pip pip & cheery-bye,
Spider

I was down at the Bolney meet in the black beast a couple of weeks back chaps, i laid my rug out on the grass but no-one was interseted in joining me for some soup and old tales of yesteryear.
They were all too interested in measuring fat shiny exhaust pipes and the like, oh well the youth of today, no respect.
Still i had my flask all to myself.
Pete.

Michelle - I'd be honoured to put in an appearance in the hall of the Muppets! Ta for the invite. Now if only my boss would stop calling me into meetings!
BTW 'Chelle, what exactly is "rotflmtopmwl"?? I daren't venture too far into the land of Muppetdom without knowing the finer details!
Pete - "Bit lumpy at the bottom though!" So am I mate - allegedly!
Cheers,
Steve
