I've only had it less than 2 weeks and managed to crash it totally - Markus to the rescue - you're way too advanced for me

I do that now with my Sony MP3 player. Full song/artist/album display on the head unit as well as complete track control.

As long as your head unit has changer control, then you can find an adapter to fit your particular MP3 player/head unit.

Connects2.com does loads of them.

However, iPod has such a massive marker penetration, it pretty much is the de facto standard - hence loads of amps/head units/tv's etc coming with iPod connection built in.

My pleasure

I'm a big, big iPod/Macintosh fan but I'll happily admit they are not perfect, they do crash and have problems. iTunes on the PC is a memory hog, and does not look the same as other PC apps, but that's hardly surprising as it was made initially for the Mac OS and Apple is trying to keep the interface the same regardless of platform.

I don't have any problems syncing them with any of my computers, and I haven't consolidated my iTunes libraries onto one of them. (although if all computers are on the network I can share iTunes libraries between them)

Apart from that I can wirelessly stream my music direct to my Airport Express connected to my home stereo from any of my computers.

When I want a CD burnt I just select the CD and insert a blank disk and click the burn icon. i can also make my own custom playlists and burn them. They can be any mix of my own ripped CDs or from songs I have bought of the iTunes store. I can rip as many of these CDs as I want, there is no limit. Additionally once burnt to CD the music is a WAV file and is completely unprotected.

AAC is proven to be a better quality format than WMA files, but I can also record in MP3 or Apple lossless.

Any ripped CDs automatically have their track names filled in and the cover artwork downloaded.

If anyone can point me to a better program that is free, or even paid for, then I would be interested to see it.
try the free plug in for winamp,

it can delete songs from your pod without a whole resync to do it!!!

gets my vote, and it downloads cover art as you lok at trhe track data

It's utterly ace. It's like a CD Changer, but with a 100 disc capacity. I could never go back to a CD changer now. You get used to going through tracks really quickly - plus obviouly it can pick up bookmarked tracks etc.

Amazon not bad price wise.
Anyway, I have the ipod, hubby has the sony and a colleague has the creative and we all like what we have.
I'd take a wander down to Dixons or something and have a test of all three - you don't have to buy it there

Sorry chaps - couldn't find it again (I hate it when that happens) - I wasn't imagining it either! I'll have another look now.

Oh well, no worries Chris.

Managed to find myself an 8Gb Nano instead (well 2 actually) for £125 each. And no don't ask I can't get anymore - advantages of being staff sometimes for Boots of all places
