yeah i only watched the Subaru bit and then flicked over - Top gear did the GT40 review about 100 years ago and all the other stuff looked crap so i tuned into Top gear on Sky digital!

I wonder why they didn't offer the type 25 as a prize in their competition this week if it was such a good car, i also wonder if they get bombarded with e-mails saying how crap the presenters and the show is.

nice looking car and great feedback/comments from Jason Plato..... only problem I have is.... 40k for a scooby - that is a serious amount of money and puts it up against some serious kit.
if i were spending that sort of money i think it would have an m3 badge on it, at least it is likely to be worth a decent amount in 2 years time.
would members really invest 40k of thier own money in this? or is it simply a rich mans plaything?

Lovely car, but £40k, come on. And that doesn't include the Porsche brakes or 18's.
Buy a Spec C for about £22k if you import it yourself, easy to get a better spec and still leave plenty of change in your pocket from £40k.

Great review, great car but I have to agree with some of the questioning about what the car really is...
On the upside it's the ultimate Impreza, for now, you are going to be pretty much unique. I have also been a customer at PowerStation so have full respect for what they do. So even with all the positives we already know about I would have the following reservations:
One dealer, great if you live nearby otherwise some long trips and waits may be in order.
Warranty - linked to above, I'm sure PS would look after you but it's not exactly factory support.
Insurance - where and how for any reasonable price? How do you even begin to describe the mods!!
Theft target - given the problems people have had with T20's, Evo 400's etc this must be a major concern if you were thinking of using everyday.
MPG - may or may not be an issue for you but I can't imagine what sort of fuel bill you get with one of these!
Even so if I could run one as a weekend and track toy I would, but the I'm not sure it can be considered as real everyday usable £44k opposition for an M3 or RS4 - and image still has a lot to do with that.
My final reservation is that I have only seen single tests so far, I would like to see how the car fares against rivals like the Evo 360/RS4 (3yr warranty, dealer support, easy to insure etc etc) over a range of conditions - eg not just a track. An Exige is quick on a track but I wouldn't want one of them everyday either.
So at the moment evo magazine score the Evo360 and T25 as 5 star cars, the Evo360 (or a 400 if you must) can be bought for low £30'sK, seems to me that at the moment the Evo (yes yes I will wash my mouth out with soap saying that on here) is the more affordable 'peoples' supercar winner - and as Plato said the T25 remains a very rich boys additional toy!
Now if Subaru took the hint and made a factory supported, insurance approved version...maybe they could call it the P1...or give it decent styling and a flash interior and call it a Prodrive P2.
Just my thoughts for what they are worth!

Warranty, you cannot get a 400bhp+ scooby from a dealer, and if you modded it to achieve these numbers you would invalidate your warranty outright. Litchfields give you a 1 year warranty which can be extended. Dealing with Iain is a joy compared to my local Subaru dealer.
Location, I've been up there twice, once to view and once to have the car mapped after running in. My local Subaru speciallist Xtreme Scooby's(who are excellent btw) do all the servicing and repairs (no repairs needed as yet, touch wood)
Insurance, this was a massive surprise to me, as I thought as you do that it would be huge, infact it costs me about £100 a year more than my old WRX PPP (A Plan, they know exactly what a T25 is)
Theft, always a concern, but most thieves wouldn't have a clue what is was anyway, I expect you're at as much risk with most high perfromance cars
MPG, my T25 consistantly delivers 22-26 MPG only marginally less than my old WRX!!
I would also like to see a group test (I think Iain hinted that something was happening with a motoring mag down at Bedford on Monday), but I'll give you my view on how the NEW T25 would stack up against the EVO 360 and the RS4..... it would absolutely murder them!!!
My only nagging criticism of my car is that the gearing is way too short, taller gears would make the car just amazing on the motorway, where I seem to spend most of my time
Anyway these are my good natured views
PS I had to laugh at Platos comments about how these cars have been bought by rich playboys with a garage full of super cars....
I'm not rich or a play boy and my other car is a Pergeot 406!

Thanks Martin,
I had no idea about the insurance so that's good news for people who want one and the MPG sounds amazing (didn't see that too often from a STi-PPP/T20!).
Warrantly/location I'd still have to be convinced when spending 40K but each to their own on that. And yep of course I agree that PS are better than any main dealer in terms of service just a shame there is only one of them!
I look forward to that group test, lets hope they pick a good range of opposition.
My RS4 is still on order at the moment!

Would have liked to seen it on open roads rather than a track, and pitched against its likely competitors at that price,in a sort of group test.
Have to agree that the program itself is absolute ****e.Lovejoy as a co-presenter,whats that all about, watched the guy presenting the mancs defeat at Southend tonight and he's just as wooden doing that as what he was on Fifth Gear last night.VBH needs a good kick in the minge, just to try and stop that stupid squealing, hysterical laugh she has!!
As to regards insurance, has anyone actually compared costs insuring an M3 or RS4 compared to the T25?And can you post the costs!(Curious as a mate was quoted £500 more for an M3 than a Sti of the same year, plus the extra service costs etc)
Rs4 is £50,675otr and an M3 £42,450otr before extras,T25 £39,995otr before extras.
Personally think that the T25 is the dogs danglies and wold love to own one

It looks like it missed the last little bit when uploading.
I'm redoing it now - should be ready by 21:10 tonight
