I do want one but 40k is a lot of money, but then again not a lot when you consider it's true supercar performance levels.

Worth it as a practical car with supercar performance.

Only real downside will be the depreciation which you wouldn't get with a supercar to the same extent.
If litchfields only made a few hundred then ceased production (like the FQ-400) then the values would stay boyant

Maybe he should do a limited run then move on to making a Type30

Looking at previous type 25's there not really worth much 12 months down the line i think it would be cheaper to buy a standard spec c and carry out the mods yourself.

Maybe, but how much would it cost to buy and build the 2.5 Cosworth block from all the component parts, upgrade the turbo, ceramic exhaust, uprate fuel pump, custom remap and so on.....
I personally wouldn't trust myself to build it 100% right

Plus there's all the time it takes to do the build yourself. I recon at least 150hrs start to finish
(I wonder how many man hours it takes PowerStation?)

The Type25 is now becoming more of a brand name, rather than a homebuilt hero that's just as fast, but carries less of a resale value

.... plus you're buying a warranty with the T25 too don't forget

All together it works out at a decent price and saves alot of aggro by having it working right out the box

The problem with the T25 is that someone has to pay for the development, so that cost is passed onto the buyer. So when you take these cost and spread them over a low volume production you can see why the T25 is so expensive.

So you can either have a mass produced car that has a full dealer support and millions of pounds worth of development or you can spend £40k and take your chance. The T25 is a great car and only the buyer can decide whether it is worth £40K standard, probably about £45k once you put on the brakes, wheels etc which you will need cause lets face it with 415bhp you don't want to be using the standard brakes.

There are a lot of people talking about the Spec-C and when you look at it on paper why would you spend £13k more?

A few hundred, what are you talking about, they only made 40 Mk1 T25s, and I dont expect that they'll make a whole lot more new ones

So you might lose £20k on T25 after three years... is it really that bad?

If you were lucky enough to have had your name down on Bentley Continental GT and paid full asking for one in 2004 you'd do well to get £80k part-ex at a main dealer (nearly £40k loss). Parkers predict a three year value of £62k for a £120k Flying Spur (the fastest four door saloon in the world?) and don't forget that folk can pay £5-£20k over the odds for supercars to avoid the waiting lists etc...

Depends how new and how rare it is. Granted the Bentleys are a 'common' supercar now but a sixty grand hit is still a sore one, no matter how rich you are.

Watched the piece and have to say I think you get a lot of car for your money in comparison to other marques. Like others, would love to see it chew up the so called competition but lets be honest I cant see the "others" wanting that sort of spectacle on national tv.

As for VBH and tw4tjoy please please remove yourselves from the human gene pool via the Darwin awards! My kids could present better than that and it would save me a boat-load on pocket money

Joking aside, Litchfields car is as good as it gets IMHO and if I had the money(which with 6 kids I dont) I'd have one immediately. If the resale values are poor (as someone posted above) 12-24 months down the line then I know what I'm saving for

In relation to the comments about the price of the Type-25, we can’t win whatever price we charge £40k is extremely steep for any Jap saloon but it’s also great value for money if you consider it’s a 4door that will lap Snetterton quicker than a 997 Turbo or Bedford quicker than a Ford GT!

Justifying “luxury” goods is impossible; do we really need a car quicker than the WRX in the real world? There is little rational explanation for STIs, PPPs, Spec Cs etc but it doesn't stop us having fun
