my mate bought a brand spanking new one in '99, took me out in it and when we came up to a familiar corner i said 'mind this, it's a bit dodgy' knowing full well he'd go for it thankfully he's a decent driver so after we got out the other side of the corner i kind of decided this was the car for me!

3 scoobs later i still love 'em

I bought my first one in 1998. It was almost brand new and I paid more than the RRP! Gulp! These were the days of 6 month waiting lists. I'd gone from a 205 GTi to an Impreza and the thing I remember was sitting low in the seat and how solid it felt round bends. Kept the car for two years before changing jobs and having to take a company Vectra.

Then 5 years later I changed jobs again and bought the exact same model Impreza - a 1998 model. Needless to say they were much cheaper 2nd hand in 2005 Was an amazing feeling to sit back in one again. Goose bumps!

Then 6 months ago I bought an STi VI. My dream car - last of the classic shape Impreza's. Was a real notch above the UK 1998 I'd had. I still use any excuse to drive the thing whenever I can

Had a Laguna sport as a company car, got a new job in london so had ££££ to play with. Wondered what the hype was all about so went to Westaways in Northampton and took out a UK turbo. Owner of garage said when you go into the corner DO NOT lift off - give it some stick and it will just sit there, well pluck me it did. Never experienced anything like it in my life. Two weeks later bought my first one from Carstins in 2000. Sold that coz getting married and needed the money. Bought another one after the wedding sold that coz I started my own business. Just bought a MY95 WRX wagon two weeks ago.

There simply is no other car for me - apart from an RS4, fingers crossed £100,000,000 could be mine tonight, then again a Veyron would look nice outside my house

Went out in a friends modified 95' WRX.
It had a front mount, ap brakes, trust suspension and an ecu upgrade to 300bhp. Basically, enough to make me poo my pants!
On my second scoob, and absolutely love them.

The present Mrs F fancied an Audi TT - took that for a spin (a triumph of style over substance) and after a bit of nagging from yours truly came out for a test drive in a standard WRX turbo. All the prepared arguments like "we can get the kids AND the shopping in the back..." or "It's cheaper to buy than the TT..." or "you can get one with the low spoiler on too..." didn't have to come out. On the test drive (with the salesman, the kids and the wife in the car I overtook a Rover 200 and the kick in the back as we left it for dead made us turn to each other. As her jaw hit the floor I said "I'll leave you and the salesman to talk money, dear!" Got back to the dealers, who had a WRX 300, and bought one there and then. 20,000 miles and 18 months on we still fight over who's driving.

STi next time, though

Had a company jolly at Bedford Autodrome about 6 years ago when they were using Tommi Makinen Evo's on the track.........instructors just said throw it into the corners and keep your foot flat !!....worked everytime....and after about a dozen 4 wheel drifts I was convinced I had to have an Evo or Scoob.

Took me two years to convince my boss a £20k Wrx with PPP was the way forward........

i had a Vectra Gsi at the time of my first test drive, i'd seen this DBM MY99 uk car at money i could afford, drove it, brought it before i left the garage and was then left with a bloody donkey in the shape of a Vectra which wasn't being used! took ages to sell it as well? oh well i didn't care, i was in a scoob
That wasn't my first experience in a scoob though, a mate had a series McCrae and took me out in that, he came up to a familiar (and to me in my then current car a 65mph bend) corner and i was thinking, he will slow down for this in a min, but he didn't it went round it at 90 and i thought jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesus i need one, had to wait 2 more years though till i got it, had it 4 years now and it's evolving

Test drive had me hooked !! I wanted a wagon compared to most who like saloons. I found a nice 96 uk that had prodrive bits on her ECU,Wheels,Exhaust .

I'd had a few rs turbos but wasn't keen to go for the usual cossie route as didn't like sierras and daint have the cash for escort cos. I'd driven mates cossies including a escort.

When the boost kicks in totally different to the rs turbos I were used to !!! Every mod just made me love it even more,
Shame I sold it to move to the US

Same here, went to test drive it, (to be honest i had no intention of buying one) drove it for about 10 mins and placed a deposit. Unfortunatly for some reason i Withdrew it soon after due to not really being able to afford it.

Regretted and regretted, went back a couple of months (and a Lotus Elise later) and bought my Scooby

Have had her for 2 years now, the longest i have kept a car before that was 6 months

Never wanted one, never fancied one but being bored to death by a very mundane Galant makes you do strange things. Guy in Birmingham (regular snetter)offered a deal, drove up to brum, he took me round the block to the garage and that was it, I was hooked.........it did something to my face that was incredible............ the corners of my mouth keep trying to meet my eyeballs. all hail the great elmathud

my mate picked up a two week ban for some slightly energetic driving(25 over a 70 limit) in his alfa but didnt get the ban till just after he bought his wagon with ppp.
so when we all went to a bbq followed by a party and i dont mind not drinking(i still have a laugh sober) he said lets go in the scoob. set off him in the passenger seat his misses in the back, we pull up behind a z4 at some lights on a41 watford and i herd a quiet voice say "if you need to do him its no prob you beat him in performance and handling" say no more booted it and hooked ever since

spent seven months trawling dealers and net to decide on what i was after. was thinking hard about a bug eye with morettes. booked test drive then 3 days before i was to take it this turned up on the forcourt

this became my 40th birthday present to me

The first one I test drove put the biggest grin on my face since I drove a new M3 CS last year. And you can pick up a decent second hand classic for five grand. Enough said!

It's the sheer power and grip that got me hooked, it's the only car I have ever driven that makes my heart race and puts a smile on my face like when i had my first sh*g !!!

Plus it's a wagon, I can fill it with all sorts of crap and still loose a boxter off the lights, silly I know, but it's fun.

Worked at a Mitsubishi dealership and got hooked on the Evo VIII FQ340. On leaving the dealership I wanted a quick fun car with enough room to get my musical equipment in the boot. Evos were out of my price range, my classic scoob wasn't. Having driven both, in terms of outright pace I would say there isn't too much difference between a standard FQ340 and a modded classic.

Been in and around them since day 1. Family have been selling scoobs since i was in single figures and those early days when nobody had 1 or new what they could do were the best. Most memorable experience was my dad picking me up from school in the first 1 we had a performance pack added too and we did a wee 0-60 outside the scool gates. (in the middle of no were and not in a 30 i might add). Then we got our first p1, wow!

My Mates dad had a Legacy turbo when we were at college back in the mid 90's. Felt like the fastest thing I had ever been in, and was very impressed. Got hooked, got a job after college, spent years saving up until I had enough cash to buy an Impreza uk turbo MY00, back in 2001, I was 25. Nearly 6 years later I still have it, even though due to running costs I almost sold it 1-2 years after buying it. Did look into replacing it with a later model, but after test driving a bugeye, PPP bugeye, and PPP STI MY03 (blobeye) I decided that paying more cash for something that just corned better, but in my opinion is a step backwards in looks and no real change in straight line performance (slower in some cases) did not make sense.
