Not sure the exact figures but I know there's only a handful in the UK. Harvey Smith used to have one, I've got one. They're the only two I've seen.

The P1 is too compromised to be the ultimate anything.
The ultimate Impreza would be lighter, have a DCCD, shorter gears and a rev counter in the middle, where it belongs.
Sort of like a type-r

Nice find Scutch, not read that before, still love my P1 to bits!
On 29k miles now in mine, still mint condition, added a stainless exhaust and a few whiteline bits and hopefully decat and BR remap in new year.
You having probs getting on to P1WOC Scutch? I havn't been able to now for a couple of days.....
Cheers, Chris ("doozer" on P1WOC)

Have to say as much as I would have liked a 22b I still feel the p1 is the better looking car apart from the huge 22b arches. I owned a p1 and I just think it is a better, smarter looking piece of kit.
Yeah, there are faster scoobs and scoobs with advantages over the p1 but as a complete package IMO it is THE BEST SCOOB EVER.
STOP HATING!!!! It's a ******* awesome car made by Subaru.

Stunning!
Currently have a 1993 WRX wagon, spent a lot of time getting it how I want it, and my plan is to source a sti 5 or 6 and then transfer most of the bits to it and go for >350 bhp.
Heres my current beastie:

sorry for the hijack!

In my eyes the P1 is the best looking Impreza they have ever made. The rear spoiler and front splitter give it a nice aggressive stance. Oh and every pikey out there wants to steal our wing badges! But if i wanted to buy the ultimate performance scooby id buy the new type 25!

Because the thing is ****ing ugly and has nothing special about it so only a handful were imported, what is the point of having the fastest dog transporter that doesn't stand out..... Boring!!!
P1, EVERYTHING is different about this car, who cares if a wagon is just as quick, it aint all about speed, the style comes in to play big time on these sorts of cars !
That's like pitching the fastest Estate car ever made.... A ROVER
AutoWeb - MG ZT-T: Fastest Wagon in the World
that does over 200mph against a Lambo.......
Probably cost similar money at the end of the day performance aint gonna be a million miles apart, sure the rover is more practical.... but which one would you rather own?!
enough said really!

My P1 had full Subaru history and never missed a beat, my prior WRX had full history and the engine went fizz after 55K!
the fact of the matter is that P1's going fizz is just a myth..... there are just as many that haven't popped as there are that have popped, the engines are no different to the STI V's but nobody mentions the STI V's going pop because no one gives a ****, they are cheap and all over the place!
Gord : I sold the P1 because I now have a son and a modded impreza, be it two doors or 4 doors just aint the place to be for a nipper!.... as you well know!!!
As for Ghey Beemer, there is nothing Ghey about an M5 matey and you know it and I will be coming back to P1 ownership in a year or two
And an RA....... come on please, great if you never plan on hiting a straight longer than 600 meters because it's topped it's max speed by then.... stupid short gearbox!

While I think the P1 is an awesome peice of kit (and 22b + type R for that matter), I'd never buy one simply because if I wanted a 2 door sports car theres so many better options out there. Let's face it 15k+ for a 7 year old car is a hell of a lot of money. If collecting showpiece examples of an iconic car is your thing then the 22b and P1 cannot be beaten. I just think they are not really what impreza's have been about over the years. Personally I think its the 4/5 door practical rocket image that makes the car so highly regarded, not the 2dr specials.
You mention pitching the rover against a lambo. Why not pitch the 22b and P1 against other 2 door sports cars of the same price tag?
Personal tastes and preferences at the end of the day.

Stealth for President! Or at least Prime Minister
lol. Agree on the engine detonation theory too. My mate has had his UK Turbo blow up twice (both times due to MAF failure - the main reason for the engine failure on the P1, quoted by Prodrive), and another mate his STi Type R (oil pump seized). Mine has been fantastic, touch wood, on 44k miles now (27k when I bought it) and never gives me any problems whatsoever in 14 months driving every day give or take a day or two.

And in English that was what Gordo ?!
Did you mean to say the Beemer can't be good because it can fit the boy in ?
The RA's are super quick cars, and yeah good on the bendies, just **** if the road happens to be straight or have the slightest of bumps in it, not my bag I'm affraid but nice motors!

Oh, and what about this 2 door beast to take on the P1...?
