Q.Ive got a FWD car thats cheap to buy and not that fast but if I do this, and add that chip, and dont do racing starts, dont drive in the wet, avoid bends and im doing 40 on boost, and youre caught napping and I floor it i'll beat you to hundred. So its a great car dont you think?

Interesting. Mrs Maiden, we are in, kindah similar situations car wise. Only in my case the wife owns the STI (standard appart from cat back). And I have the tuned FWD car.
Just from my observations of going againsed other FWD cars on the strip and track in my we Honda, the thing that seems to upset other higher powered FWD cars overall balance is that often as not they are turbocharged, and in upping the boost they have in excess of 250 flbs of torque. And I think it is the torque that holds you back (like duh I guess ).
I have a little less power than you, but I have 'only' 170flbs of torque. This seems to be just enough to give good mid/top end performance, however I very rarely suffer wheelspin as a low 5 second - 60 shows. A mid 13 second 1/4 and a top speed at Bruntingthorpe (Jtuner r.i.p group thrash) of 158.9 is fairly decent, that was from a standing start down the straight...it was still accelerating (barely ) when I checkened out before the r/hander...So unlike some of the more blinkered 4wd fans here, you CAN have a FWD car that is both quick and flexible. It is all down to how it is set up.
I think our FWD cars would be close, though I rekon your torque would pull you ahead above 3 figures.
The wifes Scooby is the same power, but due to the delivery it is slower (just) in all situations, even round the twisties in the dry (the wet is different of course)...However that is an unfair comparison as I have spent at least 8k ontop of the cars price, whereas hers is all but standard.
If I spent half that on the scooby, I know what my cash would be on , and it does not have the Red H on the front....

[QUOTE=Stainy]The 'point' is in your last line, or did you miss that?
'I'm not slating any cars'.....really?
Hardly suprising I rose to the bait, as you said.
'spend enough and you can polish a turd'
hardly complimentary...so I guess I'll be seeing you in school then

I think not. You're the one crowing about 'Slowbaru's', just giving you a dose of reality.
For what it's worth, I don't think Ibiza's are turds either. If you want to throw pots of money at one to make it fast, then fair play. But when comparing like for like a standard scoob will beat a standard Ibiza and a highly modified Ibiza will still be drummed by a highly modified Scoob. So what exactly is the point (except you cant afford a highly modified scoob so you went for something else)
/edit Oh and I don't feel the need to nip on to an Ibiza site to troll.

Luckily I can afford a Highly modified scoob if i wanted one. But i dont. I dont drive what i have enough. I think you take things a little to much to heart. The odd word here or there has brung you to the surface....all to easy really.
