I made no reference to personal debt, I talked about the national debt, i.e. how much money the country (via the government) owes due to spending a lot more every year that it gets in taxes etc. I'm suggesting that the present "tax anything possibly non green" is more to do with trying to make some more money to help address some of that shortfall, and not a lot to do with the environment at all. The government don't appear to be doing anything about global warming that spends government (public) money, merely looking at taxing people more on the premise that it's good for the environment.

Whether that makes global warming a conspiracy (I doubt it is, but I don't think we have definitive proof either way) or it's just that we have a completely incompetent government (I have no doubt that we do) is quite possibly a different matter.

Green issues are the new religion. As with all religions, it's based on very little actual fact, a lot of spin and rhetoric, with guilt and fear used as persuasive tactics by its practitioners.
Statistics?.. flat out lies...
