Mondeo ST TDCI

Lee,
really, they'll do a even hotter version of the PSA / Ford twin-turbo in the Mondeo?
The 170bhp version has had good reviews in the press already, in those 2-ton Peugeots ....

The speakers are Ford 6X8 Coaxial speakers in each door.
It sounds a pretty poor spec but the sound quality is excellent. Ford certainly did their home work on speaker placement and enclosure size.
I would say the only weak link is the slightly muddy bottom end. Upgrade the Ford speakers for some direct replacement 6X8's like those I posted earlier and the bass is punchy and deep, the sound is as good as many very expensive systems.

Good thread.
Have overlooked this car in the past.
Would appreciate a Family tree so to speak of the evolution of the ST TDI so I pick an appropiate year for value v performance and toys etc.
Would be buying 2nd hand circa £10,000 max
Handling would like some more views. esp estate against saloon if any one can.

Well. I drive both on a regular basis and the estate is no different to the saloon (or hatch). The Estate is self levelling and is handy for when laden with bikes trailer etc.
As I said earlier, very flat cornering and around a benchmark corner around here is no slower that the scoob.........!
But best is the way it delivers the handling, with low torque to pull you out of the corner from sod all revs.
The ESP is not too intrusive at standard power (there is no max power until in 4th)
I pulled 70 to 90 at 6 seconds tonight in 6th gear which is about 0.5 sec quicker than my scoob (PPP) MY00
All makes for very easy ground covering.
The Tow hitch is a rather natty detachable affair so is off the car most of the time, but seconds to attach.
Just a really good car. Never had a Ford before, but very pleasantly surprised.
The other point to make is that , yes you do blend in, which is why it feels so good to get the better of much more creditable machinery........
