Had it been something easy like the origin of the Universe I would have given a better suggestion!

correct me if i'm wrong...but the money you'd spend getting it supercharged, just to get it re-built at 10,000miles would be a complete waste of time and money.......ur best bet, sell your car and buy a turbo or,sometimes a cheaper option, you will find turbo scoobies with the big end gone which will cost you next to nothing to buy and get a second hand engine from japperformanceparts for next to nothing....all in all ur looking at paying under £5k either way.......i've got a terzo with a nice wee sneaky sti engine conversion(280bhp red top) with full de-cat system and hks air filter and its running 310bhp....selling it for £5k if your interested(aint yellow but)

SS, get yourself over to the NASIOC forums, seeing that over in the US the classic impreza sdidn't have a turbo. Although many owners did engine transplants from jap spec cars, some of the owners went for supercharging their stock 2.5engine. You can get the bits to do it shipped over the pond for less than it would cost here (as long as it's a gift ).

Obviously you must understand without replacing the pistons for ones with a lower compression, you cannnot run much pressure, be it turbo or supercharger. And therefore (amongst othe limiting factors) you won't get anywhere near the power levels of a stock turbo engine. But with a supercharger you'll have a nice smooth, wide powerband and it'll nice to drive round town.

Default Why not look on NASIOC!

NASIOC: Look in aftermarket forced induction for REDDEVIL's thread. Also, have a search for "supercharger kit". Several have been done, though I dunno if there's a kit available. Also remeber their bl**dy cars are LHD, things may not fit immediately.

Bits you need are:
The s/c
Engine management/ECU to cope with boost and appropriate sensors.
Various pulleys, brackets, belts....
Intercooler (though not absolutely essential if low boost and running super-unleaded).

Question: Do you use your car daily? How long could you afford to be without it to supercharge it?

J.

Ask Adrian Flux about The Wizard of NOS, and their insurance scheme, was cheap (free ?) if kit fitted professionally, Op North.... Could see as much as 50 bhp if re-mapped properly or adding water/methanol injection too....

Still need big brakes as a priority ! ( Please....)

Simon
As long as you build the motor up you do NOT need a turbo motor to supercharge. You also do not necessarily need an intercooler.

Sara,
Honestly, I would do a turbo motor swap instead of a turbo or supercharger kit. You will be happier in the long run. I'm not exactly sure what motors you have available over the pond, but here in the US, we have very little to choose from. Most people are now doing USDM 2002 WRX or 2004/2005 STi motor swaps into there GC8's (sorry can't remember the version, but I think its version 6/7... not sure though). But to get back to your supercharger question... what are you planning on using the car for? Daily driving? Track use? You could always turbo AND supercharge, but that's costs a nice pretty penny. Well hope that helps a little.

No turbo doesn't mean it's not that cool. My buddy has the highest hp NA RS here in Colorado and it's beating nice good ol WRX's...
