Excellent news....Labour's political equivalent of the Poll Tax .Would the Tories really follow it if they saw how unpopular it was?
Besides, who is actually going to vote for the one of the big three next election? Not me for certain.

How are the charges going to work if somebody else is borrowing your car ? I have a cunning plan.
Either I'll register my wifes car in my name and mine in hers, so we're always borrowing and never driving our own. Or, I'll register one each in each of my 3Yr old daughters names and lie about their age ! Like to see them called to court, hah !
Sorted ! .................erm

A policy like this, even one supported by all of the political parties, would have little chance of succeeding in France. I admire the Frenchs' direct action outlook but that could not ever happen here. Im convinced that any person trying to organise any form of mass protest would fall foul of the new anti-terrorist legislation. As a number of credible articles have suggested recently: it's already begun!

Well if everyone in the country sticks together this time, they wont be able to bring it, in, but i can see in a few weeks time, most people will roll over and take it, as that is what seems the norm with the public these days, i for one will not take it.
The government will more than likey say they will scrap raod tax, yeah so what its not exactly that much of a saving if were paying £1 a mile, it owuldnt even be a saving if anyone did on average 10,000 miles a year even if it was 1p a mile, screw this, we dont need to take this paying for driving, we do that anyway in the forms, of petrol, road tax, insurance, we surely dont need to take paying for each mile we do because, some old ****** in a suit, says we have too.

Thats because whenever the kids are on school holidays, so are at least 50% of parents with school kids, because they have to look after them.

Look - that Government agency the BBC have been kind enough to provide a graphic that prooves it will work:
![](https://news.bbc.co.uk/nol/shared/spl/hi/pop_ups/06/uk_enl_1164984240/img/1.jpg)
So there you go. Case proven. That's all the evidence you need to see. Now stop whining and cough up.

Your logic dont make sense mate, so all of these 50% take there kids on holiday for the full 6 weeks holidays they get in the summer then, because the roads are not half as busy, when the bratts are off, they should be made to walk to school, which in return will help keep them fit, and will most certianly half the rush hour trafic.

So they plan to make £28bn !
I recon there must be about 20+ million cars in the UK, so that looks like £1000 to £1500 per car per year![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
F'ing great !

The sickening thing is how much the government are ALREADY getting off the UK motorist in tax revenue and examine what proportion of that amount is reinvested into the public transport system!!
Now they want to compound the tax burden to -no doubt- pay for more quangos who'll continue to spew out more anti car propoganda under the guise of environmentalism!!
Bollox. If they try it, it'll be the last thing this labour government does in power!!

It might sound like extreme action, but it might be forced if they decided to bring in this crap.

Nice idea, but there are 2 chances of that happening, and slim's just left town ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
This power to the people mullarkey is all very good in theory, but in practice it doesn't feed your family. Too many people live hand to mouth in the UK, lots of superficial bling and material goods, but in truth they own, and have, **** all.

And if you want to demonstrate your dissatisfaction against the government at the proposals you'll be arrested if it's within 1k of parliament. How many more unpopular pieces of legislation are going to be pushed through by the obviously colluding 2 main parties.
Welcome to the most oppressive 'free' society in the world. Perhaps this will be another way for funding ID cards and any other anti freedom ideas they come up with

I heard on the breakfast news today that the smoking in public places ban is due to come in 1st July 2007 as the government feel it will cut the number of smokers.
I wondered where the money will come from to replace the tax that will be lost. I guess this answers my question...

Again, do try and construct proper sentences, it can help us to understand your ramblings. Although, looking at the standard of your arguments, and spelling, I would guess you're not yet at secondary school? Mummy drives you to primary does she?

This government and the direction the country is heading in makes me want to throw up.
I'll be gone before this comes in (will emigrate if it does) - need to find my own better life elsewhere.

Just think how much food is going to cost,i can do 300 miles per day.Your talking hundreds of motorway miles to get it to distribution centres then more mileage getting it to the shops.Although we can always keep the costs down by driving down all the backroads and small villages, while the M-ways will be deserted. The Government aren't "really" interested in saving the environment, they just see a big cash cow staring right at them.
If they do instigate this ,we need to bring this country to a standstill and not backdown after a few days.
