BMW 335i Vs. 335d..?
#31
The American mags have had quicker times but they generally do. One of them ( Car and Driver ) put a manual 335i up against a 335d and the petrol was quicker acceleration-wise but they'll be using the gearbox.
If you're going for an auto the 335d would be quicker without having to touch the gearstick. Either way it's not going to be a big gap in terms of on the road....you need a bigger advantage than 25bhp

The only feature of the car I really don't like are the indicators (no jokes about not needing them in a BMW please ), and the 'touch them gently for 3 flashes' feature which is way too easy to activate when you're cancelling them and can have you signalling left/right/left and confusing the hell out of other road users. The ride can also be a tiny bit jiggly sometimes on the run-flats, but is way better than the Audi was.
Overall though, the car is fantastic. The auto gearbox is super-slick and smooth, steering is positive and beautifully weighted, driving position absolutely spot on, brakes firm and progressive. Even the i-drive which comes if you order the factory sat-nav is a doddle to use.

Gary,
I know what you mean about the indicators there the same as the 5 series. It took me some time to get used to them but like a lot of BMW's the car makes more sense the longer you drive it.
Enjoy the car.
