Had a nice enlightening chat with Pete today, and I must say I don't think he'll be coming on here too often, not least because of all the rubbish posted up about his and Richard Bulmers hard work on this car and others.
While I posted on the other thread about this car and not being sure of the figures, I missed one great big flaw in my argument: this is a my06sti, which, as a uk car, is a 2.5L. So, this torque figure could well be acheived, and obviously has been in this case. So well done to Prosport in Stockport and Pete and Richard for the mapping.
I think it's sad that so many are quick to make unqualified judgemental remarks about this too, especially as some are actually in the same business, or claim to be!

At this time of year it is not unusual to see "impressive" dyno sheets from all manner of rolling roads. But a closer look at some will reveal unusual temperatures for this time of year, so it always makes sense to confim that the reported temperature is vaguely correct. I have for instance found an unusual correction factor when having my own car tested in february (not feb just passed I might add) that suggested an ambient temperature of around 55ºC. Which meant that my otherwise impressive figures were about 8% optimistic. So it never hurts to have all the facts to hand.
In this case the power is quite realistic, so the torque ought to be in line too.

What I will say is that I have seen 390lbft of torque at 3300rpm out of a 2.5 converted classic running a vf30 @ 1.4 bar...

Prosport have just recently mapped my 03 Jap import STI and got 363lbft and 350hp, with pulse extraction exhaust, STI panel filter and uprated fuel pump

petes been working on scoobs for years, way before these recent arrivals.as for rich bulmers mapping ,ask MERVE AT ECUTEC HOW GOOD HE IS.
its not that the figures cannot be done ,its the fact the cars figures are excellent for minimal modifications.this can harm peoples pride when they dont know how to do it.

500bhp / 600lbsft on a dreamo.......... er i mean dyno, mate

Its not hard to get 400 ft lb from a 2.5 litre UK Sti with the right complimentary mods, power is another thing though due to the chocolate pistons, 360-370 seems to be in the right ball park (so I've found), a car with a twin scroll conversion (Mocom?) ought to do a lot better.
