LOL I know what you mean by "staffie speak" They're usually very vocal dogs -mine used to raise the roof wheneven I returned home, almost like he was saying "thank f**k you're back, I thought you'd left me for good!" Amusingly he used to use a slipper as a speaking implement too, it seemed to help him emit the kind of noise he wanted to make; like the playful growl you get when playing tug of war with them
He did that till he was too old to exert himself anymore! They are generally very loyal, loving dogs.
The way you've dealt with this situation is a credit to you!
I've always believed that we don't so much choose pets as they choose us!![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Well, funny you should say that, because we have said that we found him, when in fact, it was him that found us. The bloke next door ignored him and didn't like the look of him, I just felt really sorry for him ![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
I wonder how many other people he may have *found* that ignored him and turned him away before he turned up here. I would love to know where he has come from and where he has been, judging by the state of his paws, he has probably been roaming for some time
The weather has been awful too, really cold and wet, poor little fella

Took him back to the vets tonight, and got a course of antibiotics and some cream / ear drops for his ears, she weighed him again 20.5kg
She said to give him a week to gain some weight and if we are to keep him then he will be able to start on his injections
Last night he whined for about 5 hours, and since being back from the vets he has been whining, so thats none stop for the last hour
Cost 27 quid last night for the vets, and another 20 tonight, not bad really considering he has been checked out, had an antibiotic jab, ear drops, antibiotic course of tablets, and a weeks worth of ear drops/cream, and a worming tablet
She said his rear pad that is cut should be ok now, with being inside, and doesnt need bandaging up now, and is doing well![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
It would be nice if we knew he had a caring owner out there, that we could give him back to, but sadly its looking more and more like there isnt one, at least not in this area anyway

Almost found his owner a few minutes ago
the website that Scoobychick gave, has someone who has posted with their Brindle Staffie lost back in October
I phoned the number, and spoke to the woman, and thought we may have a possible match, so I pointed her in the direction of this thread, but sadly it isn't hers that we have found
It was a shame, as she had got a glimmer of excitement that we may have found her dog, and is slightly upsetting that it turns out it isnt, but I wish her all the best in finding her Staffy, it would have been really nice if our found one was hers

I have seen a poster for a missing staffie today in the lowton area looks a bit like this one but not 100% its on a board outside a shop on church lane. he seems happy enough with you though as your taking good care of him so maybe its for the best that you keep him

Steph, could you pm me the details please if you have any more?
Lowton isnt 'that' far away
He does seem sort of happy enough, but we arent his owners, and after speaking to 'Jo' tonight re her missing Staffy, I would hate to think that there is someone else out there missing a staffy like Jo and Family, that we have that we dont get in contact with to see if it is theirs?
that said I would like to think that we can reunite someone with their lost dog tho

Nothing much else to say really.
He has had a better day today, running up to us all, wagging his tail like mad, doesn't seem to look quite so thin now he has had a few decent meals![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
We have been giving him his anti biotics and putting the cream in his ears, he's been really good. He must have come from a family, or been around kids, as he's not one bit phased by my three and he's loving the attention
My little lad shouts "Lost dog, come here!"
He follows us a lot, then lies down and is starting to enjoy a belly rub
He's not pestering Scooby quite as much now, but we have been using a plant mister with water in to help him learn not to do that, he doesn't like it, but that's the idea
Either that or poor Scooby is getting bummed ![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)
Tell you what though, he's a strong little bugger! He's a right softie though

'Tis nothing really, couldn't watch the poor fella wander off, I would have been worrying about him
![Cry2](images/smilies/cry2.gif)
It upsets me seeing animals in a bad way, I am glad we are able to help him, and hopefully, with a bit of luck, we may find his owner, would be great if we could re-unite before christmas, if there is a loving family out there missing him

awww Im glad he's settling in. I was thinking whether, if his owners did show up, and he had a bad reaction to them when he saw them (assuming it was them abusing him) whether you might be able to stop them from taking him... but I have a feeling you couldnt.
I suppose, seeing as he's made such a fast recovery, it could be that his initial skittishness and injuries could just be that he was lost for a few days, rather than being abused by his owners.
Oh I dunno I just hate the idea of animals suffering

The vet said he looked like he had been looked after, but he had been roaming for a while, his pads have worn down, so they're sore and bleeding, although they are healing now. Must have been for more than just a few days for him to be so thun and underweight too ![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
I don't know if he would have a bad reaction, with him being so friendly, he may just be so happy to see them, if they have treated him bad, I doubt they would be looking for him.
Vet thought he was a pedigree, so I find it odd that he's not chipped, had no collar and that someone would want to "lose" him![Ponder2](images/smilies/ponder2.gif)
I don't like the idea of animals suffering either, which is how he ended up staying LOL![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
At the end of the day though, he's not ours to keep and I am hoping that somone is desperate to find him, I really don't want to send him off with a warden, it wouldn't be right, so in that case I suppose he would stay
I would hate to think we were keeping him from his original loving home if he escaped or was stolen though
If our dog went missing, I would want him back, no matter how well someone who found him looked after him
![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)

Still no joy in finding his owner
Somebody out there must love him and be missing him, surely?

Hi, i dont normally post much on here, although i look on this site just about every day.
I just want to say how nice you are to the people that have taken this dog in, alot wouldnt have bothered and for a change it really goes to show there are still decent people out there.
If only more people were like you.

I hope his real owner is as kind as you 2...
I'm pretty much the same, and have taken in mainy stray/stricken animals, especially a fallen seagull lol.. you should have seen the look on my 3 boxers when i brought that thing home, you just dont realise the size of a seagull...
I hope this story has a happy ending

You have done so much to try to find his owners that I seriously doubt he has been reported missing - at least not locally.
So either he's been dumped and he's now yours
Or some b'stard has stolen him and dumped/lost him from far away and there's virtually no chance of him being reunited with his family
... in which case he is still yours
So either he's been dumped and he's now yours

Worst thing you can see in Aberdeen is a baby seagull coming towards you - mum & dad are never far away
![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)
You soft southern pooftas need to come up to Aberdeen to see a real Gull - they're massive.
