I was thinking of a new thread as in hindsight the title of this thread doesn't fully describe what the device does. The new thread, perhaps in the main forum also, can still link to this thread of course.

Scooby New - Its a shame you are too far north, otherwise i could demo it for you. I am more than happy with the device as it does exactly as it should, read diagnostic info from about 150 different sensors in ALL cars made after 1996.

Good thing worthy of note is that if your CEL (check engine light) is illuminated you can see what the fault is and reset the light if required. Dealers can charge anywhere around the £50 mark just to tell you your seat belt sensor has gone off for example.

I will of course let the other 6 buyers offer their opinions on the device.

I am working on an option, all being well, to get these delivered within a day or 2 of order for people in the UK.

the software that comes with it is pretty comprehensive and very useful, but there are software available for virtual gauges, and can do data logging as if you're running down a drag strip (as in racing, not crossdressing before anyone comments)

Here's a couple of pointers for you mate, depending on what you would like the device to display etc.
  1. Dyno-Scan - Software - Auterra's Windows and Palm OS Diagnostic Software - $199
  2. Digimoto - OBDII Software, Vehicle Diagnostics Software - $38.95 (good deal at the moment).
  3. ProScan - Order OBD II Scan Tool Software and Hardware - $60
  4. PCMSCAN - PCMSCAN - Palmer Performance Engineering, Inc. - $100
Most of these have demo downloads from their site. So i recommend downloading each of them and seeing which you like best. Value for money is obvioulsy Digimoto as its only about £20 after $ conversion.

Just my recommendations anyway.

Just downloading Digimoto now, can this be run as a trial with limited functions, or do you need the key to use it?

It has full functionality as most of the others do. So they are either time limited or have "nag" screens.

Spec'c'57 - Please let me know how you get on. Mark_B4 has had a couple of issues, so i will be interested in the results you are getting.

If you are on MSN, let me know and i'll PM you with my ID, that way we can chat to try and resolve any issues.

Sounds just like mine, does give any values for anything, but does detect my ECU... I'm meeting up with Tissy tomorrow Steve to try and have a play, maybe it's a JDM thing.... I've tried other software, digimoto etc, same issue, lets hope we get to the bottom of it soon. Tissy's on the case

I have been speaking with the US supplier. It would appear JDM vehicles have a slightly different protocol on their ECUs. However this is still under investigation. He is going to order some JDM ECUs in the US for testing.

Spec-C, I'll PM you regarding your problems.

To make ordering / distribution of these easier, i may be adding something to my site soon.

Obvioulsy i have to be carefull as i don't want to get told off by the Admin for sales violations etc. Its just if i do it this way, people can pay by paypal and they then get sent the unit straight out from the UK within a day or two from order etc.

I'll start a list in the next day or so to gauge interest.

OK, new list to start. These may not be as cheap as the initial batch as these were at a VERY good rate.

I am going to be the UK distributor for these, so add your names for interest and i will advise on the price once i know the amount required.

Please state Name - Type, ie Tissy - USB.

Whos first then ??
  1. Name - Type (USB or RS-232 Serial)

I may have also just secured 10% discount of the excellent Digimoto software which is compatible with these devices. This allows you to view virtual gauges, dyno stats, full diagnostics etc etc.
