For some reason you went and did a thread search where I made some comments about the film. Based on what I'd seen of it. I stopped watching it about 40 minutes in as I decided it was pretty **** poor compared to the original. When I saw this thread I merely stated I hadn't seen it, as I haven't watched it all the way through.
What possible advantage or disadvantage could I acrue by being dishonest?
Maybe at least have try to have some point in your postings?

Glaswegian? i dont think so. i am pretty sure a true glaswegian would not consider you tae be one.your a brother from another motherland not any in the uk. you cant have the cake and eat it.

Digging up an old post. I remembered this thread and I saw the film on TV last night for the first time. I really enjoyed it though it was a bit of a strain trying to pretend Natalie Portman was actually English despite the Australian/South African accent! I suppose they have to bung in an American star to sell it in the USA.

Just watched V for Vendetta. Thought it was a great film but chilling how the grim future predicted actually seems to be in part becoming a reality (film was produced well over a year ago).
Police state, surveillance at every opportunity, ID cards, eves dropping on the public being proposed at certain events, effective censorship of the media (BBC charter threatened by government), all powerful dictatorship style leadership (all the main parties are becoming one - no real choice), climate of fear, laws preventing demonstration or opposition (protests outside houses of parliament banned and 'terrorist' legislation), oppressive schemes that the public don't want (Road Charging), restrictions on free speach etc.
This idea of a revolution... I suspect over the next 10-20 years we will see more and more of this, so perhaps one day...
As a note, interesting the civil war in America scenario the film contained... I do see this is a very real possibility down the line.

Their kind of Socialism includes complete overall control of the people!
If you are going to read Orwell, he was a very far seeing chap, I would read "Animal Farm" first followed by "1984" so that you get the full picture of what happens with that kind of government, in the right order.
You can get the books easily at a library-so far anyway!
