Why on earth would I wish to use bunkum in the context of this thread?

For some reason you went and did a thread search where I made some comments about the film. Based on what I'd seen of it. I stopped watching it about 40 minutes in as I decided it was pretty **** poor compared to the original. When I saw this thread I merely stated I hadn't seen it, as I haven't watched it all the way through.
What possible advantage or disadvantage could I acrue by being dishonest?

Maybe at least have try to have some point in your postings?

Two different films really, but I'm pretty sure if you liked Sin City you'll like V, definitely worth a watch. Unless you've read the comics or are Alan Moore, in which case you'll think it sucks, of course.

These grim predictions really do appear to be becoming a reality. An author's imagination of a repressive and controlling society are clearly similar to what our own 'leaders' have in mind - the notions are the same and now the technology is available to do it, it is being introduced under a thinly masked veil. The mask is surely starting to slip...

Power corrupts... and the band of individuals incharge of us all clearly have their aspirations.
Have a look at Brave New World (Aldus Huxley) whilst your at it and Orwell's other famous effort, Animal Farm (wait for it). The film Adaptation of 1984 with John Hurt as Winston Smith is sympathetic to the book and the Animal Farm animation is also worthwhile.

If you've ever wondered why Policemen are sometimes referred to as pigs....

Digging up an old post. I remembered this thread and I saw the film on TV last night for the first time. I really enjoyed it though it was a bit of a strain trying to pretend Natalie Portman was actually English despite the Australian/South African accent! I suppose they have to bung in an American star to sell it in the USA.

Well worth a read if you haven't already.
He wrote it in 1948, otherwise itd have been '1994'.

This idea of a revolution... I suspect over the next 10-20 years we will see more and more of this, so perhaps one day...

As a note, interesting the civil war in America scenario the film contained... I do see this is a very real possibility down the line.
I spent a great of time writing posts to warn about exactly that kind of a future for this country with the last lot in power and also our future fate should we ever become federated with the corrupt bunch over the water.

Their kind of Socialism includes complete overall control of the people!

If you are going to read Orwell, he was a very far seeing chap, I would read "Animal Farm" first followed by "1984" so that you get the full picture of what happens with that kind of government, in the right order.

You can get the books easily at a library-so far anyway!
