God I am starting to hate this country.

All this talk of how great we are doing as a country by Brown bears no ressemblance to the reality. It's fundamential social problems that need addressing to improve quality of life. He can carry on pumping billions into this and that while lowering standards and we pick up the tab for dearing to use our motor cars. Makes me sick... how much tax I pay and how little I actually get in return for it other than seeing my country slowly being flushed down the toilet. Unemployment 7% now, huge personal debt, social problems, ever increasing tax burden, poor quality of life in our overcrowed little island - remember "things can only get better"... lol what a load of nonsense, much worse now and the damage is virtually irreperable.

New Labour

that graph is a reduction in cost/tax ratio of 7%, but a spread of 14% over the 10 year period, ie; tax hasn't increased as much as the overall cost.

Add to that, the rise in Gas prices. The rise in Electricity and water prices. Also while we're at it, add to that the extra Council tax we pay every year. More so when the Government push through the new Tax brackets for todays house prices. Every property in the land will pay alot more.
We could also say that when/if road pricing comes in, we'll be paying extra for that too. Raod Tax has risen too

So with all that extra cost, £64 a year extra in fuel duty soon adds up.

A mud or straw hut !!!!!!

Do you have Central heating sir? A fridge, cooker?

Yes

To bad, you don't qualify ............... Tax please.

On the plus side, if we are getting Global warming we won't need Central heating, so we might just qualify
Or, we could just wait a few hundred million years for the sun to get hotter.

good question supra
i was thinking the same
it rules out anyone with gas central heating, to an electric kettle
do they know something we dont
like when they changed the law on fuel, where any fuel used to power a car has to have duty paid onit

best count our lucky stars then

They will pile on the tax so it slowly creeps back up there and then when we next have oil price instabilities it'll be £1.30 or something - but then that won't be their fault, it will be the markets fault.

Just spoke to my next door neighbour - he's off - decided he's had enough and is moving to Cryprus.

Our tax burden is going to just rise and rise - this government has over spent in truely epic proportions... wouldn't be so bad if we actually were seeing some real improvements - but no.

Strikes me that some of the complacent one here are in for a massive wake up call when out of the blue they are made redundant and are unable to meet the enormous monthly repayments on their mortgages, car loans, holiday loans, utility bills and council tax.

It's not just that though. I'm worse off than I was 3 years ago, yet I've had 3 pay rises since. My Mortgage is 21% of income.

With all the Utility bills rising plus all the new and higher Taxes being introduce I just have less money in my pocket every month. Then we hear Brown say that we should save and add more money into our pension schemes. With less money in my pocket through taxation, how am I supposed to do that?
They want us to spend on the high street while we're saving too.

Don't know anyone who has had wage increases to keep up with all these rising costs. i.e about 10% every year.Anyone?

Rang for a redemtion figure on my car loan today. Interestingly 2nd option on the automated choices was 'if you are having problems or are in arrears press 2'.Same for the Mortgage company.

The depth of the problem is huge. And the next person I see use a credit card to pay for purchases of less than a fiver I will kick up the bum

On a Visa debit card it's free. On credit cards it's generally not offered, you have to go to an ATM instead.

He is absolutely correct. Look at the 1705 Act of Union or whatever its called. The Scots have a disproportionally high number of MPs for both their area and their population; and theyre mostly Labour MPs. If Scotland left the Union and became completely independant (like the Republic of Ireland) then thered be a massive Tory parliamentary majority.

You live and learn dont you?
