Richard Burns, Richard Britton, Bertie Fisher, Mark Fisher, Joey Dunlop, Michael Park, George Best.

Their deaths in recent years have all left their mark in some way, his death affected the footballing community in the same way the loss of the other six affected the motorsport community.

They all had wifes, girlfriends, friends, families & supporters, to suggest any one of their lives was of less worth than another is pure nonsense.

I agree absolutely with your respect for that old soldier Olly, but I don't think it is really necessary like some have been to be unpleasant about Best. He was an outsanding footballer and I prefer to just remember that and respect his skill in that direction.

In the comparitive 5 minutes of George Best doing something good, I would say that the majority of people on here werent even born in that era of his life, so only know him for the drunk that he became

It was in the paper the other day that he was indeed sacked from football for being drunk

Im getting on a bit myself now, but even I don't remember George Best for playing football, even tho in my youth i did follow football quite a lot

I have to admit Sonic that I prefer to see the good in people rather than the bad. I certainly would not condone his drunken antics and his self destruction but he was an outstanding man with a football. I also admit to remembering a bit of that too.
