Ditto, but I wouldn't mind a small pad in London, such that I could avoid the rush for the last train home.

True, but if you had a holiday home that didn't cost much in the first place, and it was on a cheap flight route then you have a winner. You can go for a week at any time and it costs you maybe £80 return in flights. You pay for the property by renting it out through summer and all is good.

1 - South coast, in Cornwall, view of the ocean
2 - Coast of Italy, Sardinia, with great veiws and great driving roads
3 - On a hill, in a small town in Far North Queensland with uniterupted views overlooking the Great Barrier Reef and the wide expanse of sea - oh, we already have that. But being 24 hours flying time away means it does not get any use at all - but the renters love it, the gits! One day we'll be there...

Almost - but if you've already rented it out for specific dates in the season, then you can't actually go whenever you like, even though you are the owner! By renting a high end place for a week or two at a time when we want it and sometimes at even quite short notice, we get a top quality holiday without the hassle of ownership.

Fancy having to let out your holiday homes - that's not the SN way.

I'm so rich I wouldn't let anyone stay in any of my many homes .

Or drive any of my exotic motors

For those who have mentioned Canada, care to elaborate on exactly where you'd like to have the holiday home. To the person that said Toronto, any particular reason why?

I'm curious as I live in Toronto, and not sure I'd have a holiday home in here, maybe a couple of hours north, perhaps the Parry Sound area. Perhaps somewhere on the west coast where it's a tad more hospitable in the winter.

1) Somewhere in the Lake District
2) Sorrento, Italy
3) Bora Bora

Slightly off topic but did you see on the news that the alps has the least snow since time began. To find decent snow it has to be 3000m
