Was driving on the motorway, it was supertinny (ting !!) and when it got windy this thing felt like like I was driving an empty crisp packet !!

During subaru ownership:
Worst is probably the Suzuki wagon R in vomit green that Maidstone subaru gave me whilst my first impreza went in for repair.
it is quite possibly the most embarrasing motor i have ever been in, I felt like i was in the pope mobile. What made matters worse is on the way back from the garage the ******* thing ran out of petrol even though the gauge still read 1/4 full. bumped it to a nearby garage and went to put a tenner in it but.........i only ended up brimming it!!
When i took it back to collect my impreza i had a right go at the manager.
Other time i took my impreza in (Milton Keynes) i was given a brown schit coloured Mk2 Astra that i swear would have been a MOT failure. couldnt believe i was leaving them with a 21k car for a £500 service and was given this crock of shyte. words failed me.

For simply being crap, the Subaru Justy. Wheezy little engine, 4WD and yet somehow I still managed to spin the wheels pulling out of a filling station, it had that little grip.
For being comprehensively designed and engineered to be crap from the outset, the Vauxhall Corsa. Every control was obviously designed to offer the same vague, rubbery feeling as though it was in no way actually connected to any mechanical parts. I truly pity the no doubt very talented engineers that were forced to design it that way.
But, most depressing of all has to be the Daihatsu Terios. Tall, skinny and wobbly, I aborted the drive from the garage to my office, instead taking it straight home and leaving it on the drive. For the couple of days I was without my scooby, I drove my Westfield instead, despite its complete lack of weather protection. Nuff said.

Regals vauxhall cavaliar. It had 148 K on the clock, but from how it drove I suspect it could have been 1148k. Take it to 70mph and the steering wheel shook so violently you couldnt hold it, take it over 90 and it went away though. The best bit was the rear windscreen wiper. The fronts were less wipers and more "smearers", but the rear had enough all together and detached itself after one wipe, cartwheeling down the motorway behind me.
for sheer comedy value it was good fun to drive, but for comfort and "courtesy" which I guess was what it was there for, it was pretty useless.

Many moons ago when my beloved Mini got hit and had to go away to be repaired the insurance co sent me a Metro courtesy car, I was horrified I refused it and sent it back to them demanding something else
They then sent me a Fiat Cinquecento which was actually a far better car than my Mini and slightly less embarrassing to drive than a Metro

Worst courtesy car I've had is a Subaru R1 with CVT transmission. Truly horrible experience. Gently press the throttle and it has an instant response. But nail it hard because you need to nip into a gap in the traffic and you get a horrible delay when it's building up revs before actually transmitting torque to the wheels. You also seemed to sit on top of the thing rather than in it. Would be happy to never sit on one again.

A Daihatsu something that you sit on rather than in. It seemed to have castors rather than wheels. Truly nasty.
My mum's Suzuki Swift also rates as one of the worst cars I've ever driven. Brakes and steering are anus twitchingly frightening.

3 Cylinder Corsa Vreg - my wiper motor has more power than that did, it'd have had more directional indication if I'd have put a sail on the roof. Was truely truely awful, just wrong in every way.

Guardian Volvo in Sale thoughtfully didnt have one after I booked one when the T5 was in for service so they retrieved a 340 from the back, smelt of decay, had mould on the seats, I rewarded their generosity by oversteering off a big kerb with the POS, should have been on the road, drove it to work (Police), tax disk 2 years out of date !

I had a dreadfull one a few years back from a performance centre. I dont even know for sure what it was - something like a Datsun Sunny or something - C-reg, white with brown rust patches all over, 1 out of 4 wheel trims remaining.... and a HUGE exhaust
Ive never been so embarrassed having to drive that thing home, and the handling was frightening too - about a 2 second delay after turning the steering wheel and actually turning!

dont you lot takje your cars to main dealers. When I take in the volvo they always give me a upgraded model as they are obviously trying to entice me to buy one. Gotta phone before hand though if thats what you want.

citroen 2cv!
i used to have an ax gt and when it went in for a service i have a 2cv as a "dis-courtesy" car. the doors used to fly open round roundabouts and the first time i drove it, it scared the hell out of me. driven a few of them since (and renault 4's), but not one of my most pleasureable motoring experiences!

Though't I mentione the best courtesy car I've ever had:
A brand new BMW 740 manual (30miles), after takeing in a 2nd hand 325 for a service and bit of warrantee work. Christ, did it guzzle fuel, I probably devalued it by £10K just by driving it

Fiat Cinquicento Sporting from mike @ Rivett Autos. Without doubt, not only the worst courtesy car I have ever had, but also the worst car I have ever driven, by some considerable margain.
It was the only car I have ever driven that had no redeeming feature whatsoever.

Now it's funny - when I drove Alfa I was always (and I mean always) getting Cinquecentos as courtesy cars.
The Sporting made me laugh but then I only had it for 3 days. When they broke my 164 Colverleaf they gave me a base model Cinq. For a month. Not the best car to do a 270 mile a day commute in...
I had a complete POS Civic from a Subaru dealer once, though the rest of the time I've had Impreza or Legacy demonstrators. And now I've got the M5 my last courtesy car was a 120d. I had a 330d before that and a new M5 (!) before that. Only for a day, though...

Not sure which was the worst...
Rover 25. Rediscovered the joys of understeer, body roll, and lack of acceleration. Saved me a fortune in petrol though.
Subaru Legacy. Starting it was a bit of a lottery, and the day it was due to go back, it refused to start point blank. Eventually, two of SC's finest were despatched to get it started. An hour or so later, they'd got it to the bottom of the hill on which I live... and finally got it going a long time later.
Saab 9000. Not too bad, but it had a computer which showed fuel economy barely creeping into double figures.
Best courtesy car was a fully-loaded Legacy outback.
Then there's hire cars...
