Makes me laff how all you townies froth at the mouth with fox hunting. You'll quite happily eat a battery farm egg or abit of cheap beef and not blink an eyelid about the conditions those poor creatures are kept in YET foxes are free animals. If they get caught the dogs will kill them quik and fast. What are the aternatives? snare them. poison them or shoot them which is far more cruel. BTW i don't agree with the toffs digging them out but end of day we should be more worried about other things. Another example of New Labour acting like Adolf

I studied Animal Farm in English Lit. and the Russian Revolution at the same time in History. Engaging, inspiring teachers helped; courtesy of a good, old-fashioned, elitist grammar school. I have a copy illustrated and signed by Gerald Scarfe dontcha know.

TBH I'd keep that to yourself... Especially if that's the sum of your experience in political thinking. or your premiere chat up line...

It was a perfect illustration of the evils of so called Communism encapsulated in a form which was easy to understand and enjoyable for a fourteen year old.

Translate that character map onto the New Labour government, and you're half way to reality.

Certainly those socialist ideals which have been corrupted by power offer a workable parallel. Problem is UB, you're obsessed with the party!

The ideal political system is a form of Dictatorship. HOWEVER, it only really works with some decent, intellegent, responsible and well thinking leader running the show. Unfortunately, they always end up with some loony (or someone who turns into one, corrupted etc.) but as we all know this happens too in a democracy as we are experiencing right now!

In the first semester of my first year as a Politics (with Sociology) student, I asked my tutor this question: "Why is it that the people most likely to rise to political power are the people least likely to act ultruistically and how do we work this out as a race?"

The tutor said he'd answer the question in year three. I asked the question in year three and he said: "I've yet to come up with an answer, James". True story.

I feel I can confidently predict - that will not happen any time soon.

So, what's plan B then?

Sorry but I'm totally against it and have a few words about it.

Lets forget politics for a while, right, I am all for farmers/Land owners etc protecting their stock/Land from Foxes or any intruders etc that threaten it by killing said animal. What I am totally against is the form of which a fox hunt is conducted, its cowardly and evil. On an interveiw, one of these upper class ***** said on TV that it made him feel like a big man by doing what he was doing! What sort of spineless crap is that?!?!
The sporting thing to do is in the event that the fox has eluded the chase, including retreating to its borrow, then it should be called off! BUT digging it out of its hide to throw it to a pack of trained to kill dogs is down right wrong.

I don't care what the toffs or country folk have to say, thats just plain wrong. Personally I would like to get a group of people and do something similar to those who take part in it. I'm pretty sure they would soon change their veiws if they were the ones on the wrong end of a chase to the death!

Theres plenty of Laws that have been created that go against a heritage of some kind but people don't publically flaunt their disapproval of it as much as this upper class scum do.

This is all my opinion of course, take it as you will.

A story which ties in nicely with the real reason Zaphod Beeblebrox got himself elected as President of the Universe and then stole the Heart of Gold

That's one derogatory term per paragraph. This gives credence to my suspicion that the type of people perceived as hunters are disliked as much as the cruelty of the 'sport' itself. I will reiterate that on any given hunt there are more working class huntsmen then so-called 'upper class'.

I understand that digging out is unsporting. The Dartmoor Hunt do not condone digging out unless the quarry has been particularly murderous with livestock. Often, the cute, fluffy, loveable fox will take it's victim for eating (lamb, chicken, geese etc) but will then go on a bit of a rampage, killing indiscriminately. Farmers have sometimes found wounded lamb who have suffered throughout the night. The farmer then has to break the neck of the lamb he helped deliver.

Well said

As I said at the start of this, this was not one or two people off to catch the fox that killed one of his lambs, this was the full troop and out to enjoy themselves
Even spectators watching
No I did not see a fox but they are not going to carry out the act in full view.
And no i'm not a towny, i've lived out in the sticks all my life, and my grandfarther used to do foxhunting .
As said, killing for a valid reason you can argue, killing for fun, sad,sad sad.

What about all the animals needlessly killed during a car rally for example? Shouldn't we be focusing on getting all motor sports banned?
