If the truck is following the preceding vehicle at the "correct distance", and a car slips into the gap, then the "distance" will no longer be "correct", thus he has to brake/lose momentum/drop back, slowing every bugger behind him.

Mate, I sympathise, rather than getting of their ***** to get the money to buy their own they have to ruin someones elses pride and joy, I reckon the truck driver had the same attitude, nice car, well f*ck him then, I am going to be a right c*nt.
I upset a Boxster drive who was stuck up my chuff, goes to two lanes, I stay on the inside and hoof it, he goes to the outside and does the same and doesnt have the legs to get past an old Saab. A V8 Chrysler 300C from a standstill resulted in a decisive victory for the Yank, well what did you expect ?

I don't have an R32 any more, I have an Astra.

Although it has the same torque as the R32 and weighs not far off 200kgs less so it's quick at times.

'Yeah, I know'
I was sympathising as it was obviously part of your reason for getting rid.

There's this thing called the highway code.
People of all ages ought to read it.
Eminently sensible. One might ask why slowing down very slightly in order to regain the two second gap would cause any significant slowdown of the traffic, even for an "Arctic". It's just pure bloody-mindedness.

144: Being overtaken. If a driver is trying to overtake you, maintain a steady course and speed, slowing down if necessary to let the vehicle pass. Never obstruct drivers who wish to pass. Speeding up or driving unpredictably while someone is overtaking you is dangerous. Drop back to maintain a two-second gap if someone overtakes and pulls into the gap in front of you.

I felt a bit like I was in the film "dual" for a bit.
Oh well - He's either got the sack or is in deep trouble at the least. Fully deserved.

The way I see it is that there are always two sides to a story like this one , you must have done something for the Lorry driver to react like the way he did . I get cars cutting me up all night long , diving in front of me just before roundabouts and cutting my braking distance down by half , Exiting motorways are another classic example. Lorry driver's when loaded at 44 tonne are forever struggling to maintain momentum and dont take too kindly when its taken away by some impatient car driver .

Hmmm - I've driven 1000s of miles in big vans and small trucks so am well aware of the hassles lorry drivers have.
I think he was just narked that I overtook him.
I make mistakes like all drivers. If I've done something wrong, I readily admit it.
The bad driver things he knows it all - I don't despite extensive extra training but this time I think I just caught a truck driver (agency one from Excel apparently) on a very bad day.
