Yep.***** who attempt thread hi-jacks. People are asking questions, I'm attempting to answer them.

In case you hadn't noticed, the fog and its affect on transport is the number 1 news story at the moment. People are interested.

'Hi-jacks'? Even your anti-troll repertoire reeks of aircraft terminology!

As for 'people are asking questions' I believe the question was "when are they moving into the new control tower?", not "please copy/paste verbatim vast sections of your flight/geek journal for our delectation".

What? Just 87 metres? No reference to datum? Is that to the top of the roof? To floor level? Above sea level? To 3 decimal places please.

why not just run the buggers down the runway to the end, park all the follow me trucks down there, and get them all to exit left,,, follow the truck round the perimeter, while the next one lands.. and they drop of the plane proceed back round the outer to the truck point and start again...

SEE you can rely on SN to fix it for you......

and thats a 1.2 mill consultancy fee...

and just to give you a secondary option...

gps in all the cabs, and mobile phones.... then you can get the broom out and move them round the ground plan laid on the floor of the control tower.

thought pilot error was to blame for the tenerife ding, the fog was secondary to the cause...

if anything, watching the pre-empting of take offs and landings at some airports is far more worrying...

Ah yes, the last bastion of the scoobynet retard's defence, assert that I am either a school kid or pslewis. As if it would make any difference if either were so.

In fact as both are clearly objects of your derision then surely it looks even more unfavourably for you to have been pwned by either?

What makes you think I'm an airplane geek?

Les, glad you found it interesting. Most sensible people do take an interest in national news stories.

I gotta admit that i find Flightmans info very interesting. Seeing as i work At Stansted im always interested in avaiation stuff and Flightmans info is always correct. If someone asks him a question and he then answers how can this make him a geek???

Let's face it, you have to be a bit of a weirdo nancy boy not to be interested in technical stuff like planes and airports.

However I'd probably draw the line at train spotters.

I worked at Heathrow many years ago - it was hard enough for the pilots to find the right turn off point on the runway in clear weather (I lost count of the number of aborted landings I saw, because the aircraft in front hadn't cleared the runway), so I can understand why they struggle in the fog. Bit scary to know that Heathrow operates at 98.8% - not surprising it struggles when the weather is a bit crap.
