My connection improved massively when I ditched the crappy extension cable to the router and plugged it straight in the socket, had to buy the Xbox 360 wireless adaptor as the ethernet cable wouldnt reach but it was worth it, so much more reliable.

How do they do the 24 meg service ?

It is ADSL2+, which is on an LLU exchange. You need an ADSL2+ modem (or in fact BE give you (a not very good) one).

I am going to have a go I think ...
