He did it for his own gratification and at his son's expense.

So Wish didn't lose a penny - thats a nice thing to do ..... but quite shocking to take it from your own child and give it to another who has no NEED - just a WANT!?

Sorry, I don't buy all this Xmas Cheer bollox - now, if the £180 went to the NSPCC then I will join in the congratulations without hesitation ......... but, come on, what has happened is Wish has taken a used item off their own child and given it to another for the price they paid when new???

What are we all issuing congratulations for??

I could announce what I gave to the NSPCC this Xmas - but I will not, unlike Wish it cost me something .................. but cost me much less than it gave the children who have nothing.

A clenched hand (holding £180) cannot receive, to receive you must first give - which opens up the hand ......................

He may have made one (pretty spoilt, by the sound of it) child's Christmas, but not in a way that should make him feel particularly virtuous. It's cost him nothing but a couple of weeks without having a wii.

Those that win are those that give at a cost to themselves .... and do not say a word about it.

To give without cost is not really giving is it?

And to take from your kin to give to another who has no genuine need is strange ................. unless there was a profit in it, which of course there was - selling a used item at new price is making a profit in my book.

So, again I will enquire ....... what are all the congratulations about??

The Wii was not my sons, it was mine (33yr old Kid)
I sold it as the parents were desperate for one, its all the little lad wanted. My son is not spoilt nor is there son.

I asked my son before offering it, saying that he had his presents from Santa, and he was fine.

Please dont make this out to be something it isnt. It was something I did to bring a little christmas cheer, to a family that were after a Wii for there son.

And Pissy, you are nothing but a petty troll. I wish you a Merry Christmas.

I don't recognise the name Troll - it is simply a label used to put on posters who have views that differ from yours ... or whoever else uses the word.

I wish you a Merry Xmas too - I will have a good time.

The point I was trying to get across is that the Xmas Spirit you felt wasn't the same as the feeling you would get if you gave something to someone in need - THAT is the true Xmas Spirit and you may feel it one day. It's the feeling you get when you help the homeless on Xmas day, its the feeling you get giving up hours of time to help others, its the feeling you get when you give £20 to give a child a present or that child will have no present at all, its to give £200 so that a child can spend a Xmas away from the terror of a drunken father arriving home ... maybe on Xmas Eve.

Simply exchanging a used games machine for the price you paid when new - to a child who just simply WANTS it - is not, I'm afraid, a heroic act worthy of my accolades.

But, I do wish you the very best for your family this xmas ..... I hope you think, for just a moment, about those who are waking up on Xmas day to nothing .......................... not just to no games machine!

May the spirit of Xmas truly visit you this year and let you give that £179:99 to those who really need it ............................. you will feel even better!! Go on ......... do it .............

You really are the pits lewis.

you must have one sad f*ckud up life, if all you can do is see cynicism in everything people say or do.

you cant post without it being a thread designed to cause resentment or backlash. Cant you ever post a simple response, which either endorses or refutes the thread? No you always have to twist it so you become the centre of the thread, and not the original poster.

Its not about being controversial, or showing off your supposed intellect, its pure green eyed jealously.

Some one posted a thread, where you arnt the centre of attention, and did something thats quite noble in todays society, and rather than be pleased, the old "green eyed lewis monster" rears its head and has to turn the post into a slanging match.

your so sad pissy, and unfortunately you think its good to be the way you are.

Oh and in reponse to your other question what do you want from me at christmas...

Altzheimers then at least SN would be free from yous sad rantings

Just some of the things you've said incl the below - like it or lump it, this is what Christmas is about for most families nowadays, wants not needs.

Wish made it clear it was his console, not his sons - I might have had more sympathy for your point had he given away his sons console.

What he has done here is make someone's Christmas where he could easily have done nothing.

Don't 'quite' understand what your point is????

My issue is that all and sundry are congratulating him for giving his games console to some parents down the road who don't want to let their child down - how the hell are the children of today EVER going to build character by being given EVERYTHING they want WHEN they want it!!

IF he had given £179:99 to the needy then I would join in the congrats. he hasn't

In my day you had an Orange and a Walnut to play with off Santa - maybe a bag of marbles but we didn't blubber if we didn't get a nice new Spinning Top!!

The children and adults of today need to learn the lessons of need and appreciation .. they are NOT getting those lessons!

Whatever happened to the idea that you don't always get what you want???????

The parents of the other child are quiet clearly not able to operate efficiently!

Not often that I agree with the attention seeking prat but this is spot on.

So what lesson have your or your son actually learnt? Did you give it away to child who otherwise would receive nothing? Gosh the hardship of you and your son missing out on playing one game for a week or so... and you did state that your own son has many other presents for Christmas Day.
